Will we be able to know if our opponent is on a PlayStation or an XBox?
-
if you see a controller next to their name, they are playing on the opposite platform as you are.

Not being a [censored] here, I swear. But what's the difference? I'm just curious. More likely to be new to the game if they're on XBox?

You can't see the person you're facing until you're in game.

How would you "Xbox hunt" if you can't tell what the icon is until the game starts?

X-box hunting??? LMAO....There are literally going to be guys that have as PS5 and an XBOX series X, 1S, etc... that bought the game on both platforms. You honestly won't be able to tell the difference after a few months until you connect! It's not going to make a difference dude.

I don't think the percentage of players that purchase on both platforms will be particularly high since there is already cross play, and likely little to no difference between the Series X and PS5 version in terms of performance. Maybe if someone has a PS5 and Series S and they travel a lot, there might be a valid reason since the Series S is more portable. Otherwise it would make more sense to stay within the same ecosystem. I'm more likely to play on PS4 if I travel, and PS5 at home.
As for what you were saying about not being able to tell the difference after a few months, I doubt it would even take that long. There are plenty of seasoned vets that are primary Xbox players and have just decided to switch since they no longer have to play on Playstation. There are others who were able to get a Series X but not a PS5, so they'll be playing the best version there. There is no reason to go into any match (Playstation or Xbox) assuming your opponent is bad.
That's all besides the point though. My comment was in response Hubijerk being worried about Xbox hunting since that is a non-issue. You've never been able to see your opponent until the loading screen, so even if their platform gave you an advantage (it won't) then it wouldn't matter. I could be wrong, but based on your comment it seemed like you thought I believed Xbox hunting would be a thing.

I hope they do something about home hunting too. Seeing people back out over and over was annoying. Even the ever godly streamers would do it habitually.

So, fine im wrong, if you dont know which system youre opponent is playing on till it starts then its a non issue... however the point was, people home hunt because they feel there is an advantage.. ps players have been the only ones who have been able to play this game, theoretically you will now expose this game to a new audience, and players new to the game will not be as good as those who have played for years. In general, odds are you would be more likely get an easier game against an x box player than a ps player. I never meant to propose there would be an advantage to one console or the other.
