19 is defintely not the worst version ever.
I can tell you though they probably did not make a new hitting engine, it wouldn't make sense with the new generation consoles coming out for 2021. I'd settle for less foul baseballs since the word bals gets censored and pitching mechanics from 16 or 17. -
A good pitching engine would expose how bad the hitting engine really is, so I doubt they'll improve the pitching. The game is how they want it

Unfortunately I think you might be right because I thought the game was pretty good at launch and they changed it.

18 is the worst version of the game. 19 was an improvement in many ways.
Don’t expect any major overhauls until the PS5 is out though.

Is there too much RNG sometimes? Absolutely. Is calling the game "totally random" an exaggeration? Absolutely.

18 was by far the worst this game has ever been...

19 blows 18 outta the water bro. I’m not expecting much out of the beta, by the time the game is released it’ll be patched, and then guess what it’ll be patched again and again.

18 was easily the worst version of The Show I can remember and I've been playing it since 08. 18 was HR or bust and whether you got the HR or a bunch of fly balls always felt random. At least in 19 if I feel like I'm not finding the gap or hitting the ball out, I can try and lay down a bunt and play small ball to get the pitcher off his game. Pitching is terrible this year though and in some ways it makes it more frustrating than 18. I just know I quit playing 18 in November. I've never quit playing a baseball game before the next years game comes out until 18.

This is the first year I’ve played MLBTS, that is if you don’t count the mlbts 2010 3d demo I downloaded on the ps3. I have played over 400 ranked season games this year. The more I play, the more I’m aware of the circumstances that seem beyond my control. I don’t need to name them. Some work out in my favor, some don’t. I’m not saying this game doesn’t require skill because it absolutely does. All I’m saying is that the feeling that neither I nor my opponent is directly responsible for some of the outcomes is there and It frustrates. This has all been said before, but I reiterate it again to say that I’m not sure if I’m going to buy next year’s game or not. I’m completely hooked, I’ve played this game more than I’d like to admit over the last few months, but I find myself being more frustrated than anything, win or lose. As for the beta, I don’t know why it would be any different that this year’s version.
The people that use this forum are but a small percentage of the people who play this game, and even the small group of people on this forum can’t agree on the way this game plays. It makes me think the developers may not see the issues that a number of us on this forum have with the way the game plays.

You’ve kind of hit on the big elephant in the room. Many said that this year’s game played great out of the gate and then got patched because batting averages were not “realistic”.
Beta or no beta, all the promise of a new version of the game can be so easily erased, and who is to say the ongoing tinkering with the game (sliders/what not) won’t continue to spoil things? -

Unfortunately I didn't sign up because when I was going to, it didn't work on my phone and I completely forgot to try on a computer. I'll have to rely on friends to tell me how it plays

I think people exaggerate how bad 18 was even more than people exaggerate how good 16 was
Nah. I went back and played 17 because 18 was so terrible. Literally only 1 meta offensively and defensively.
