@LankyRyan said in Personal Favorites That Were Not Great Lifetime Career Players?:
I'm an NL West guy and it is a god forsaken tragedy that Larry Walker isn't in the game.
Edit: that wasn't what this thread was supposed to be about at all.
Hopefully Larry Walker is voted into the Hall of Fame next month and SDS gets him a card for 20.

I loved Bill Mueller. Great team player, good hitter. Probably still my favorite position player
-
Greg Vaughn, Carney Lansford, Kent Tekulve, Bob Horner, Jose Oquendo, Bo Jackson, Cory Snyder, Kevin Mitchell, Dan Quisenberry
-
I should've added more to my Bill Mueller post.
Tim Wakefield is my all-time favorite player. Selfless, did anything the team asked and is a heckava guy.
Hideo Nomo. He had flashes of brilliance and he was fun to watch. I loved when he was in Boston, even if it was a short stay.
Trot Nixon. The 'dirt dawg'. Another guy who was quiet, did everything he could to help the team win, didn't complain. Always a fan favorite. -
Josh Byrnes. That dude played his heart out on every freaking play.

So so many great names of players that were not great, but made an impact with fans. These are the players we need in this game. Even if only as Golds & Silvers. They still would have use within certain Events & BR drafts & will be fun to use do to being a personal fan of them.

Grady Sizemore is my favourite player all time after Griffey, my wife and I named our second son after him.
-
Given my name this won't surprise anyone - Ozzie Guillen, Lance Johnson, Jack McDowell, Aaron Rowand, Joe Crede.
Other non-stars who did not play for my favorite team would include: Devon White, Mike Sweeney, Tony Phillips, Troy Glaus, Rey Ordonez, John Kruk, Juan Pierre, Randy Meyers, Rod Beck, Raul Mondesi (sr).

tony Fernandez, ed sprague, pat borders, and devon white. grew up watching him glide to the ball like no one else

I don't know if I'd like to see him in game, but Billy Ripkin was always one of my under the radar favorite players who did not get the recognition he deserved. He played 12 years in the league and only had a career BA of .247...but he just made everyone around him that much better.
From 1987-1992, while big brother Cal never missed a game, Billy was averaging over 400 PA per year making sure that every Oriole around Cal was well rested. He servicably played every position on the field except P and C. Yeah, Billy Ripkin was never the superstar, but he will always be my idea of the ultimate 'Team Player.'
