This is probaby going to be a pass for me then.
I've been putting an awesome career for my 3B
    and SP.
And I don't feel like starting over, Nor do I play it enough to justify starting over yearly. I maybe finish one or two seasons in a year.
I'm on my 8 Season in June 2027 for both of them.
    (Started in 18)

How does this make you feel?

Are you going to stay with 20, or what?
I'd love to hear your opinions.

I feel like it's a good thing, there must be a reason for it, so I'd hope there are some major improvements in franchise and RTTS

Regardless I'm mostly a DD player anyway, so going to 21 is a no-brainer for me.

Given the move to cross-platform, disabling y2y saves for this year only is unfortunate but probably unavoidable.

    From the FAQ

No, Year to year saves will not be supported in MLB The Show 21. We don’t have anything to share about the feature’s future, but we’re aware of its popularity in the community.

I’m with @eatyum, although not a DD player. There is a good data-based reason for it either because it wasn’t feasible to continue to accommodate years-old data going forward (some people still use saves started in 14TS), or it needed to be cut loose because the data is going to change to much going forward.

It will be back, probably in 22.

Tbh this was the only thing that kept me interested in getting the game yearly.

So Sadly I probably wont be getting 21 unless something changes.

Highly unlikely. I’d bet my house on it.

After deliberating more in this I would say the main catalyst for the overhaul in data would be the two-way player thing. Right from the beginning position players and pitchers had completely different data records. I’m guessing that the band-aid of the last couple of years of two-way players is being ripped off and replaced with a whole new structure.

It will be great going forward, but get ready for some bugs for a few months.

    well that's kinda sad.
I guess i'll be sticking with 20 from now on.
I might get 21 on a deep deep discount just to see what's up, but if y2y is gone for good then yeah I don't see a point of buying it yearly anymore.

It's the same reason for the other sport games.

It is never a good look to remove popular features so here is hoping that they can provide more information in way of an explanation. RTTS and Franchise players are actually less likely to buy new versions without the feature. Who wants to start anew every year. I have said before that year to year saves was the single best feature that they added to the game.

    You make a point.
They are cutting content, but asking for more money.
    How does that work?

Well the base PS4 edition is the same price and the Digital Deluxe is the same price.

Unfortunately Sony first party games on the PS5 are all 69.99 instead of 59.99 so it is not just the show charging more.

I have said before that year to year saves was the single best feature that they added to the game.

100% agreed it was the best feature and it really did show that the user experience was a top priority, and the feature was a standout in sports games.

The problem it creates though is that it limits the potential of future versions of the game. The data for these games evolve as newer features are added or bugs are removed. What starts out as ABCDEFG might end up as ADCSEFGOVPIR six years later. And all of those new spaces must be filled somehow from a carry over save. They’ve managed to do it for the last six years but eventually the plug had to be pulled to start from scratch again. We are at that point now.

Also they are probably restructuring the player data with the whole two-way player focus so that equates to putting a three dimensional square peg into a one dimensional straight line.

It’s going to be back in 22. Just needed to clear the slate and start again.

I definitely will not buy MLB21. I have players from 18, 19 and 20 in my game and with all the added stuff you can't get through a career in one year especially if you have more than one player. Eliminating the Y2Y transfer was really stupid

I'm sure a big reason for this is because they are stating that your RTTS player will be usable in other game modes. Kinda keeps people from porting over an OP CAP instantly for 21.
