With the information we do have, it seems as if most likely a 99 Jackie Robinson will be rewarded after the collection of all live series players but I would like to hear what everyone else has heard (maybe) or thinks?
I don't think Jackie, he doesn't have enough pop and personally, I don't really like his cards.
My guess is that it has to be a 5-tool player, so that the longevity of the card will last throughout the year. They've done this with Pepe Alazar, Mantle, Mays, Vladdy(not the best fielding, but had everything else). A logical guess would be Griffey, but I don't think SDS could put one of the most popular players behind a giant wall like that. But yeah, don't have another logical guess so I'm going with him. But I know I'm 99.99% wrong.

Since they made Babe free this year maybe he will be the collection.

I hope it isn't jackie because I just never enjoy using his cards honestly. Personally since they make note of 2 way players in RTTS I hope it can be a 2 way Ruth. Lets face it Vlad was a cool pick but not the best immortal, Mays was incredible mantle I personally feel as a switch hitting mays but I am obviously biased. I just hope it is a true end game level card especially if we get the no quicksell again. I dont remember but has Griffey ever been the choice

As a Giants fan, I couldn't hit with mays so I hated him, and no you aren't biased about Mantle, he's a goon, and still my number 3 hitter. Griffey has never been the choice since he was introduced in 2017, but the question is whether or not SDS would do that to Griffey, and I just don't think they will, he's a fan favorite(but you never know)

Oh I 100% agree especially with his new made up position at MLB but to me a card on the Griffey level is what needs to be a huge collection reward.

Hank Aaron. It has been a new legend each of the last 3 years, which new legends taking up the AL and NL collection rewards each of the last 2 years as well
-
Jimmys Foxx with catcher secondary maybe. That seems to be a popular card every year that people don’t like waiting for. If it’s a new legend then maybe Aaron makes sense or Clemente or maybe Frank Robinson.

Has the cover athlete even been the collection reward?
I do not believe so...could be wrong. I cant really remember who they were before the MLBTS2018

Year-----Cover-----Collection
2017-Griffey-Ted
2018-Judge-Vlad
2019-Harper-Mays
2020-Baez-MantleIt's GOT to be Hank. I've been saying it ever since the cross-platform announcement.
-
I agree it’s hank Aaron. Generally the live series has been the new big legend. I think anyone that was in the game before that you got from the market etc would be a bit of a letdown. Also think it needs to be somebody who will actually stay in a lot of lineups. A guy like manny Ramirez would seem like a popular card but his defense probably wouldn’t last in most lineups very long. Coming off of mays and mantle I think Hank fits in well.

Joe DiMaggio, Hank Aaron, and Roberto Clemente. There's your AL, NL, and MLB collection rewards. Book it Dano
-
I've said for a while now that Henry Aaron is the player rights that will be acquired when they moved to cross platforms. It's only logical that he is the collection reward next year.

I was certain this years big collection that ended up being Trout was going to be DiMaggio. All the stadiums have a big "56 - Beat The Streak" billboard in them. It seemed so obvious.
-
Hoping for Hank or Josh Gibson
-
It’s only Hank if they had already secured his rights before he passed.
My top 5 most likely (new) would be:
- Hank (see above)
- Clemente
- DiMaggio
- Jeter
- Arod (he’s trying to rehab his image)
-
Remember, we can't release EVERYONE this year. Gotta save a couple for 22, 23, 24, etc...
Clemente would have made sense this year (21 in 21). Would also make sense next year (50th anniversary of his death.)
DiMaggio - MLB26 (75th anniversary of the Streak)
Jeter - Alan Trammell, but with Isan Diaz's defense. They're in a no-win with Jeter because any semi-realistic card of his would be near unusable.
ARod - not until after he gets into Cooperstown. -
I would hope to see it be Hank Aaron but with the new 2 way player hype, I could see it being Babe Ruth.. with a sinker.
-
Like many mentioned above, I think it will be a new Legend. Hank Aaron for sure fits the mold. If it were to be a pitcher, I'd have to go with Koufax, Pedro or Johnson.
