I know. I’ve just played against so many opponents who do this with like three guys in their lineup. It gets tiring to deal with.

I’m not a very good hitter, so I try to score runs by hitting. Sometimes I leave men on, but I don’t think I get any better at the game by bunting.

Cobb, leadoff drag bunt -> steal 2B -> steal 3B -> sac bunt for a guaranteed RBI. That's how to abuse this game.

I tried cobb for this event in the leadoff and tried to drag bunt and it always goes to someone. I almost never ever bunt wven with the pitcher cause is always an out. I wish i could bunt like my opponents do with the perfect bunt

Tough call. Cobb is not in my lineup because of too many OF already (Trout, Griffey, Soto, Mantle, Bellinger and Randy) but in the Central Event everyone was using him and he was raking. I do like Betts, especially vs righties but if I play him anywhere it is 2nd base. Honestly, I would try both out. They are really not expensive and you could always sell the one you don't like.

I never bunt either, but if you wanna drag bunt successfully the trick is to bunt it towards the area in between the 2B and 1B where the pitcher can't reach it, the 2B has to come in too much to make the play and the 1B can never recover to 1B for the force out with that 99 speed. If your opponent doesn't know how to counter it, you can abuse it for days. Which is not a good thing, don't get me wrong.. I'm not advocating for this stuff, it just is what it is and since the game is dead anyway I figure sharing doesn't matter at this point.

The tricky part is, even bringing your 2b in, sometimes the animations will ruin you if everyone goes for the ball and nobody covers the bag.

Cobb, he’s an end gamer, only draw back is a terrible arm..his power numbers play way above their rating, and he’s a Terror on the base paths..there’s only a few cards in the game where you’re scared to pitch and scared to walk at the same time. Cobb is one of them

I play Mookie at 2B and he tears the cover off the ball, and I rotate Cobb among my outfielders based on who I’m facing. If it’s a pitcher with insane H/9 and your PCI is a microdot, Cobb helps a lot (and when not, he’s a great bench bat / pinch runner / defensive replacement).

Can I throw Lou Brock in the mix here? 125 contact vs RHP, 99 speed and 99 stealing, plus diamond level fielding. What more do you want in a leadoff guy?

Some pop to protect the 9 hole from intentional walk.

Im not advocating for it either. Injust want to get a succesful bunt once in tjis game. The only times is happened it has been on a check swing that somehow goes for an i field hit.

Mookie is infinitely cooler, imo. Cobb can’t even hold his bat properly and looks like a skinny street kid from a period piece.

The real Cobb, maybe. The game version of him, not me.

Mookies got a better swing and has a ton more pop than Cobb. And the fact you can put him at second and still have trout/mantle/Griffey/walker in the outfield just helps him that much more

I don't understand this love for Cobb. He's a good card don't get me wrong. Perhaps great. But with options like Trout, Mantle, Walker, Griffey, Ted, Soto and Bellinger Cobb just doesn't make squads.

That being said, Cobb is balanced vs left and right handers and the better choice over Betts, but honestly neither of them should be on your team unless you REALLY have an affinity for one of them.

He’s one of the easiest cards in the game to hit with, and his power plays WELL over what his attributes show. Throw in the fact he is a very solid fielder with an arm more than good enough for left and obviously the speed...he’s without a doubt a top 3 card in the game

No way. Top three card in the game? No way.

I’d say the fact that so many people bunt cheese with him disqualifies him instantly. Even otherwise, just no.

What does people bunt cheesing with him have to do with anything?? That’s like saying “Trout is an automatic home run every game, it’s not fair. Disqualified”

Well, if you don’t see it that way, I don’t see much point in arguing.

This is not MLB the bunt. I’m sure Cobb can be a great addition to any team if used in a non-exploitative way.

IMO, bunt single steal second steal third score on passed ball or sac fly is pretty exploitative.

I don’t think a card that encourages that should make any top five list, but feel free to play however you like.

I personally have never played a single person who used Cobb in the way you just described, and I’m over 400 games deep in RS. But, basically what you’re saying is any card with let’s say 95+ speed has an asterisk just cause there are no talent dweebs out their using it to their advantage. Got it

I don’t understand why you are being adversarial. The thread is about Cobb vs Mookie. I said what I think.

Lots of people use Cobb exactly as I described. Granted, I am talking below 600, but I’m not making it up.

Here’s the part of the post where I take knock at you sarcastically for emphasis. Got it?
