Who thinks AS pitch speeds are too slow?
-
I’m curious.
I used to think they were fine because I can barely hit, even in AS. After enjoying the last event on HOF, I now am convinced that the slow pitch speeds in AS are a big part of the problem with the so called “AS hell”.
It should not be a 66% off speed meta in the lowest tiers. That makes no sense. The only fastballs I see in AS are sporadic top of the zone ones.
Even facing someone like Gerrit Cole, I see way more sliders than fastballs.
I really think this game needs more universal pitch speeds. Make everything up to 900 HOF speeds, and then give it a bump if the WS tier guys want it.
I should not be early on everything. People should not be afraid to pitch in the zone.
-
Yes, it's too slow.
-
It’s not they are to slow, it’s that SDS can’t figure out how to stop making a foul ball and homerun simulator
-
Who thinks having different speeds across different levels is stupid?
-
Yeah, I do.

They won’t stop because they casual gamers wouldn’t buy their product. Instead of getting better they cater to them. Only 10 percent of the players play dd on hof pitch speeds. Only 3 percent play on legend. So they truly cater to allstar warriors

And those games sold notably fewer copies. MLB 19 was the best selling baseball game ever, (at least according to light internet research, hard to find exact numbers). I'm not sure how MLB 20's numbers compare, but at least on its release it was the most successful in terms of early sales of the franchise ever (Though no real baseball + the pandemic could be partially responsible for that).
Like the direction the game is going or not. (I'm mostly not), it seems to be working.

In terms of the pitch speed on AS, I would say yes, though it may not be as large an issue if check swings and foul balls were not as bad as they are
-
Good point. Add magnet pitches to that as well.
-
AS and HoF should be 1 speed.

I would not say that pitch speeds were the reason for sales in any game

You're right, woops, that was the guy above you, apologies.
Still, the point stands on why they don't do pitch speeds like that anymore, it is because of catering to the majority group

For sure, they should go back to hall of fame pitch speeds across everything but 900+ though
-
i Like pitching on HOF but I struggle hitting on HOF. For Prestige hitters I rather hit on AS for Pitching HOF. My hitting issues swinging at bad pitches.
The one thing I would like to see change, once you start a game you can not change your hitting options or pitching options.
-
Honestly, pitch speeds vary depending on whether or not it's an event, RS matchup, or BR matchup. All Star is not the same across all three; that is for sure! While some will beg to differ, others will not. I can see pitches better in BR and Events, but in RS I can't read a pitch out the pitchers hand until it's too late on Allstar! I hate to see what HOF and Legend speeds are. But at the end of the day, it depends on internet speeds, ping, and blah blah. No one is going to pinpoint a specific issue. It's flat out the built in RNG in any given scenario. I've griped and have seen gripes abroad in this forum. Some will make WS in RS, some will go 12-0 in BR. I can't even begin to fathom what goes on behind the scenes which is what is supposed to happen. It's a video game at the end of the day. Yeah I've ranted to the extremes on here, but no one is going to find an answer on here to online play. Yes you can destroy the CPU on it's hardest setting, but just can't seem to adjust to the difference in on-line play. It varies way too much. Just play, be patient, and "git good" and try your best. If you've done that already? Wait for 2021 to come out and carry on then. It's too late in the game now to seek resolution.
-
I’m not really seeking resolution, so much as looking for future improvements.

But they won't improve. The algorithm never changes year to year...only the players and attributes.
