Although I sympathize with the fact that you got baited and I feel bad for you that you got banned, Sony doesn't ban first time offenders. They always give multiple warnings unless you took it to the absolute extreme which I doubt you did. Either way it sucks.
I was suspended awhile back for 7 days for messaging back & forth for the same thing - Salty language. So this 30 day suspension was the next punishment. I’m guessing next time would be the 3rd strike you’re out ban. Oh well, It’s on me for not being more disciplined.
If I were you, I'd turn off the ability for people to message you and protect yourself from being baited into something where you'll end up on the losing end.

Why join the party chat? Its not like you guys were going to exchange recipies for apple pie. The honus was on you. Dont blame the results of your bad decisions on someone or something else. Yes we are all free to make our own choices, in the same way we are all free to live with the consequences of those choices.
Because it was a heated & competitive game & in the moment I was ready to drop the gloves so to speak. That’s sports man, At least to me. Tge competitive juices get flowing. But you’re right, It’s on me for going there. I just think it’s silly that if someone invites you to a chat & proceeds to talk trash & then you serve it back that you should be suspended. It’s a sports game. No threats were made or anything like that - just alot of swear words. But it is what it is.

Evidently playstation records all party chats now & someone can just report you from the party - Playstation can then listen to the whole conversation. I guess this was in the message 2.0 update. Beyond what happened just now with this incident - I don’t like that. I don’t like having a 3rd party monitoring all chats at all times. Which it does say in the T&C that they have the right to do. Microsoft doesn’t do that. That along with being 1 strike away from being banned definitely has me considering my options.

It is not what it is. I had my account locked for 3 days because I said things that should have gotten me baned for more imo. I dont think it's silly because if that was a normal social contract life would be rather unpleasant. I commend you for your accountability it's a strong trait. Part of living in a world with 7.5 billion is learning to be civil. With that we will have much farther to go.

Gotcha. I understand that privacy is a valuable thing to a lot of people. To me personally, I don't really care if they wanna listen to what me and my buddies have to say to each other. And although I can sometimes engage in a heated debate (as you are probably aware of), I always try to not cross that line where I would give mods a reason to ban me. But it can be challenging sometimes, definitely if you get baited. We've all been there.

First time I hear of them banning off of voice chat, pretty wild. Didn't know that could happen. Sounds like you're self-aware here so I won't dog-pile on what you should've/shouldn't have done. I will say it's incredibly silly to switch systems just because of this though, but that's just a personal take. Good luck.

I can understand why you would think it’s silly to switch systems. My concern is this - After my suspension is up I will be on my last chance. If I were to get in trouble one more time I’ll be banned. I know people keep saying just turn off your parties & don’t talk to anybody. While I could do that for games like Madden & The Show, I couldn’t do that for COD & Battlefront where you need to be able to communicate with your team. If I was to irritate someone or accidentally say something I just don’t know if it’s worth the risk especially when I’ll be investing in a PS5 once they’re readily available. In talking with some XBox players they have told me that 1) XBox doesn’t monitor parties & 2) If you get in trouble sending messages then XBox just suspends your ability to send & receive messages for awhile - You can still play the games. I’ve always been a Playstation guy but this does have me considering switching.

I guess I see that perspective. Idk about you but I've been gaming online on PSN servers since they began 15 years ago. That spans FPS/Sports any multiplayer game, it really isn't that hard to just decide to not put yourself in a position to get banned, lol. To think you don't trust yourself to not say something to get yourself banned says to me you're either immature, an instigator; or both. That's honestly how it comes off.

Not sports, video game.
Hope you get your head straight soon. Being that kind of person is not a good way to try and make it through life. Unless it is just an online persona you use. Either way not flattering at all. Definitely something most people would be too embarrassed to admit. Hopefully you are just young and this attitude is just a product of a lack of education on how to be a man/woman. We have all been there at some point.
