Online Hitting

I honestly think there needs to be different matchmaking systems for the different types of hitting. Zone is not fun online cause making good pitches doesn't matter when the guy can smack a ball at head level 480 feet to left field. It takes skill to do this yes, but if I want to play with say directional or pure analog hitting then make it so I play against people who also play with that setting so it is an even playing field. I play offline with Zone hitting while on HoF difficulty so I don't feel like CPU cheese can always screw me over, but online I like to use directional hitting as most players try to cheese swings with pitches way out of the zone. Using directional hitting isn't enough though. As much as I walk or get solid base hits and homers off of mistake pitches, the other guy will just rock anything I throw at him cause of the PCI being absolute cheese if they know how to use it properly. Again, no disrespect towards those that use it, as it takes skill, but seriously let us match via hitting controls instead of just rating. Would make Diamond Dynasty a lot more attractive to those who don't use Zone hitting.

I wouldn't care if they separated it, but i can't get past your "Pci is cheese" thing, it's far from cheesy to use zone lol
-
Personally I think it’s cheesier to get hits by just pressing the x button rather than aiming with the analog and pressing the button
-
I started out this game in May using directional - batted about .200. Then, my friend said that “pci” is a must. I switched over and was unbelievably bad - batted even worse for months and months (and it was hard to not just throw in the towel). At the time, I thought to myself, “how can someone not only time these pitches, but also sync it with this cursor?!” Through many reps, I’m way better than I even imagined I could be. I think you should just make the switch to zone. It sucks at first, but the game is so much more fun with it.

You'll have more fun with zone in the long run, because you'll get better results. And it just feels better to know you did something right. Come to the dark side, OP.

LMAO. Its a targeting system. Im not shooting bazookas. I use both but prefer directional honestly

I use zone, but it would be better if the result was actually more indicative of the swing/point of contact. 1. The pci ranges way too far out of zone. 2. Way to much hard contact on pitches far out of the zone. Couple that with the awful timing windows. Early swings on down and away sliders should not be pulled for homeruns.

It takes skill to use for sure. By cheese I meant that good pitching isn't rewarded since someone can take pitches at the head or shin level and rock them 450+ feet with the PCI.

Fair comment. I just feel that there is a part of the DD community that enjoys directional hitting and good pitching more than 20+ combined runs per game.

Don't get me wrong. I use zone too and have learned how to use it. I just feel like if a player wants to use directional hitting that their opponent would have to use it as well. Level playing field essentially.

I use zone online too, I just feel it would be better overall for the game if the hitting types were separated into different matchmaking systems so that good pitching is rewarded in types like directional and pure analog. With zone hitting, you can pull a low and away slider and bomb it 450+ feet. Not realistic at all.

Exactly what you said. It's a targeting system for the barrel of the bat. That being said it punishes good pitching cause you could throw a changeup low and away from the hitter but because they timed it right and got the PCI there, it's gonna get pulled for a 450+ foot bomb. Unrealistic.

Agreed, 100%. Good pitching isn't rewarded. Most "good" pitching in a Zone vs Zone hitting game is just high fastballs that you can't catch up to, or offspeed in the dirt that they chased. Really bad for pitching altogether.

they just need to fix pitching and it would not matter

Good pitching isn't rewarded because there are too many hanging pitches, but that is a separate issue. If the person can get to the pitch, good hitting should almost always beat good pitching. That's not cheese, just how it should be.
Nerfing good contact in the name of realism is never a good idea in a video game.

Fixing pitching doesn't matter when I can throw a slider at 78, low and away from the hitter and they pull it 470+ feet.

When games are constantly ending with scores combining up to 30 runs a game then yes, good contact needs "nerfed".

I very very very rarely ever see combined of up to 30 runs in a game, I probably count the number on my hand of those occurrences in the last 100 or so games I've played, I have an ERA just above 3.50ish in ranked this year, so I can tell you I'm definitely not giving up that many (or scoring that many for that matter)
So that means in the average game, my opponent scores just above 3.5 runs, nowhere near what you are claiming here. There is no "constant" of scoring up to 30 runs.

I know there are some who can play online and have success without one, but I've come to the conclusion that I will never be a competitive player using zone hitting as long as I play on a TV instead of a monitor. It is definitely frustrating playing against guys who can hit high heaters above the strike zone out of the park with ease, the same kind of pitches I would have no chance catching up to.

I'd agree, that would definitely frustrate me to. But nerfing them so they can't just because you can't, as the OP wants isn't the answer unfortunately. I don't have a perfect answer that make both sides happy, but SDS nerfing good contact in the name of leveling the playing field would ultimately just make a lot of people mad.
