Laaaame. I just want them to release Lefty Grove so I can officially complete my old-timers team (unless my Bob Feller order is ever filled ....)
Good thing I bought that Feller when he was 400k. I use Newhouser in place of Grove for now.
Do you also have an old farts team? For my SP, I use Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Hal, and I’ve been using the 92 Lefty Grove until I can upgrade with Feller or Lefty.
Yes I do. I have the Feller and I’m waiting on that grove, Hal just doesn’t really cut it. I’ve actually been really effective with young and Mathewson, much more than I was expecting.
And obviously the lineup is stacked. My only issue is having to use Eddie mathews at third (since I like to run primary’s except at catcher obviously). I do well enough with Mathews but wish there was an older guy lmao
Yeah, I agree. Mathews and Mantle are my only two guys who debuted in the 50s (but I think they both debuted in like 51 or 52, so this still pretty much on-theme).
I am currently using Jackie at 3B and Eddie is on the bench. Not necessarily because he isn’t as old as the rest of the old farts, but I’ve just had a really good year with Jackie and can’t take him out of the lineup (which is a nice surprise, because I was terrible with him last year).
Hopefully we get Josh Gibson to put behind the plate on our theme teams next year, and maybe someone like Home Run Baker to slide in over at third!
Amen on that! I’m hoping and praying that we get some negro league guys next year. Josh Gibson and satchel Paige would obviously be the biggest ones.
I believe Mathews was in 52. I thought about putting Jackie at 3B but like I said I’m prizing primary positions just so I don’t get weird ones going on. Getting the really old guys in would be amazing but I somewhat doubt we’ll be getting them anytime soon, or ever.

Yeah, after SDS made their big push for the 90s and 2000s guys this year, I have to assume dead ball guys really aren’t a priority. And I get it — Larry Walker and David Ortiz probably sold a heck of a lot more stubs than Tris Speaker or Nap Lajoie would have. But it’d be nice to see one or two new guys from the 1890s-1920s.
My hope is that they don’t bring in just one or two Negro Leaguers at time, but that they go out and get the rights to a TON of them. Just like we got a million minor leaguers/prospects this year, I hope we get that kind of focus on Negro Leaguers next year. I’m embarrassed to say I really only know the 8 or 10 or so really famous Negro Leaguers, so it’d be awesome to learn all about the other stars I’m not familiar with.

I felt the same. Would’ve been nice for them to go after a couple new guys from back then, and I’m sure they don’t cost as much as some of the newer guys. But they really wanted to make a push for the recent guys everybody was clamoring for, which is fair. Lajoie and Speaker and Sam Crawford would be some cool guys.
For some reason though I have a good feeling they’ll bring in some negro league guys. They had Paige and other guys in the first versions of the show and they had them in MVP. They have the ability to get them.

I think there are quite a few early hitters that would be good additions to the game. Just picking players that hit for average+power: Mel Ott, Johnny Mize, Al Simmons, Chuck Klein, Hack Wilson, Hank Greenberg, just to name a few.

Got to 50 tonight and got the Golden Goose. Really struggled to win the last 2 games for some reason. I did not play well. deGrom’s slider has helped prestige many of my opponents players.

Congrats on the million stub pull! I struggled as well and didn't really want to finish but once I got into the low 40s in wins, I struggled through it.
