Kinda expected that. They havent said anything about using the universal DH so you just have to assume they will not unless something comes up. Only reason I can see them using it is if they shorten the season or something like they did last year.
@SpudXpert27 said in BREAKING NEWS:
I mean, not necessarily. DD could still add it
They will not add what isnt the rule at the time of development. That is why we didnt have it last year. So if they decide to do with the DH in Feb or March pretty sure we would not have it 21 either. And of course they arent gonna use it if MLB isnt. And most MLB TS players dont want it because we like using our bench and strategizing a bit. 5 players in our lineup, our bench guys, would become useless if we had DH.

The main reason there will be no universal DH is the CBA negotiations.
Giving MLBPA a major concession like the universal DH, thus extending the career of several older players who are a liability in the field and usually earn high salaries, without getting anything in return is poor negotiating.
If the MLBPA wants a universal DH, they need to be prepared to give the owners something they want.We are heading towards a work stoppage. The main issues off the top of my head are:
The luxury tax which acts like a de facto salary cap
service time manipulation
Draft pick compensation
Yrs needed for free agency
Revenue splits and how revenue (digital in particular) is calculated -
So if a team has a really good shortstop that can’t hit in the minors why can’t he have a DH in the majors too?

Also breaking news: Angels acquire Reds closer Raisel Iglesias for RHP Noe Ramirez and a PTBNL.

I hate the DH. But I think this was probably already assumed by a lot of the teams. I can't imagine the Cubs would've let Schwarber walk if they thought the universal DH was gonna happen in the immediate future.

This would be good news. We don't need a DH in DD. The pitcher in the lineup adds so much depth and strategy, this game has already been dumbed down to the extreme.
Not that I play DD but agreed 100% anyway. However, if SDS were to code it in let’s hope it is properly thought out from the beginning (eg energy draining for all players) so that there isn’t a year of exploiting it.

The DH is on the table, but for a price. If the MLBPA wants a universal DH, they will have to give the owners something they want. This is business gentlemen and the owners have leverage on this issue. The MLBPA has used leverage to win every labor confrontation for the last 40 to 50 years.
These negotiations will be personal for the owners. This will be their best opportunity to break the MLBPA like all of the other pro leagues have broken their players unions.
What has made the MLBPA different from the other PAs is solidarity amongst the rank and file. But there seems to be cracks in wall of solidarity.
This season, highly paid players like Max Scherzer, did not want the players to accept pro rated salaries, but he was over ruled by the non superstar players that don't earn mega dollars. Before baseball salaries for the most part were clumped together, generally most players earned close to the same with a few outliers here and there.
But now, there has been a shift, the MLB is becoming like the NBA. A league of haves and have nots. Look at the Angels, they pay Trout, Pujols and Rendon the rest of the roster is a collection of misfit toys on short deals or under team (pre FA) control.
The owners will use this division as the leverage to break the union.
That and the reduced salaries from the huge FA class along with reduced earnings from last year's COVID season. There will be a nuclear winter coming, most likely next year. Unless the players strike before then.

Dam where am I going to play my 10 end game Outfielders in '21 now
3 in the field. 1 at first. 1 at second (if betts is good) 5 on the bench.
Obviously......
Cahna at 3rd and Schwarber catching. You almost got the whole squad, but I'm more of a fan of using John Smoltz at every position.

I don’t want to see the pitcher bunt or try to swing. Give me the universal DH baby

I believe it should be added, but as an option for players. Home team decides DH just like in the real league.
Personally Date Palm Field is an NL field. No DH here.

The MLB has informed NL teams to not expect to play with a DH. This means that there will most likely be no universal DH, so no DH in DD.
First ive heard of this but I hope its true! Not a fan if the DH here. Strategy is one thing that makes baseball the great game it is, having the pitcher have to hit just adds to it in my opinion.
I used to believe in this. I no longer do. As far as the show is concerned, the last thing I wanna see is another bloop single by a pitcher.

Revenue splits and how revenue (digital in particular) is calculatedThis man gets it. Sorry but there’s not much strategy involved there. It’s a pretty simple quandary. You let him hit or you pull him. So many more problems with the game especially for minor leaguers and non “time service members”. Tell that to someone like Nelson Cruz who should be rewarded for his time but at this stage of his career is limited to only 15 teams.

Yeah I completely understand and realize I am most likely in the minority with this opinion. I just prefer the strategy involved with the pitcher having to hit, and seeing a bloop single by the pitcher every now again is better than seeing Juan Soto hit the 8th HR of the game.
