Wrong. Explain Rickey going from 98-99 speed from people screaming [censored] murder over something that makes zero gameplay difference? A pitcher hitting 96-98 consistently as opposed to 98-101 makes a noticeable difference competitively. Did people complaining about Rickey only having 98 speed bug you this much too?

I apologize, my point is behind the logic is that no starter averages even close to 102 yet outlier gives a starter the ability to consistently throw 100-102 almost the whole game. Verlander didn’t consistently throw 98- 100 mph that year but he hit 98-100 for close to 2 innings worth consistently just about every game when in a jam and when he knew it was his last inning and could throw a 100 virtually whenever he wanted to. Now if he doesn’t get it then it is what it is. My point is just that in a game in which Sds prides itself on being simulation based there is a hole here and maybe in the future sds can make a clutch pressure perk for pitchers that were well known for increasing velocity in pressure situations.

I apologize, my point is behind the logic is that no starter averages even close to 102 yet outlier gives a starter the ability to consistently throw 100-102 almost the whole game. Verlander didn’t consistently throw 98- 100 mph that year but he hit 98-100 for close to 2 innings worth consistently just about every game when in a jam and when he knew it was his last inning and could throw a 100 virtually whenever he wanted to. Now if he doesn’t get it then it is what it is. My point is just that in a game in which Sds prides itself on being simulation based there is a hole here and maybe in the future sds can make a clutch pressure perk for pitchers that were well known for increasing velocity in pressure situations.
That’s fair. Consistency is one thing I think MLB The Show struggles with in particular. So being annoyed that JV can’t get an extra 2mph bump while other pitchers are, is a totally reasonable gripe.

Kind of hard to claim SDS "hates the Tigers" when they released that Newhouser card from the start, and then jacked the power of Ty Cobb up to make him more usable.

2 very good cards yes and mize doesn’t count bc he is impossible to get unless you go 12-0 he’s not even buyable at this point. Btw mize throws 96 too as hard as verlander which is absurd when Casey has never come close to a 100 mph fastball and I watched every single start of his this year in which he barely ever even hit 96. This is what I mean by sds not being consistent with pitchers velo vs irl

Bingo, I've made it known that I am not a big fan of the FS ratings. Concept is fine but ratings are way too juiced. Then they double down on this by making actual superstars and future hall of famers rated less than these guys? I don't get it.

Wrong. Explain Rickey going from 98-99 speed from people screaming [censored] murder over something that makes zero gameplay difference? A pitcher hitting 96-98 consistently as opposed to 98-101 makes a noticeable difference competitively. Did people complaining about Rickey only having 98 speed bug you this much too?
That was an error by SDS. Different situation, and I must have been smart by not going onto the forum whenever that happened.

Outside of my velo whining they did him dirty in other categories compared to many other starting pitchers in the game, especially the finest starters h/9 and k/9’s which are nuts. Now while sds has never adjusted for e.r.a stats of American League vs National in which national league pitchers have the benefit of basically free outs facing the opposing pitcher verlander in 2011 was 1st in batting avg with opponents hitting a paltry .192 1st in strikeouts with 250 in which he has led the league 5x 1st in whip at .92 in which he has led the league 4x, pitching clutch coulda easily been much higher and 1st in innings pitched at 251 in which he has also led the league 4x and is basically the only rating they did him real justice on with 114 stamina.

As I told you in the other thread his average fast ball seems low because he would throw 92-94 in the first 5 innings then crank it up to 99-100. Just because his average seems low doesn’t mean much considering there aren’t very many pitchers like him that crank it up in crunch time. From the 6th inning on he consistently hit 100
If someone could go back in time to let JV know not to hold back in the beginning of the game so as not to screw over the thousands of fans of a video game in the year 2020, that would be great.

I posted about this is my own thread, but the argument about average velocity doesn't make sense. If you look at max release speed Verland clocked over 103mph in 2011, deGrom maxed at 102mph.
This all really highlights the problem with Outlier in regards to SP. Outlier lasts too long, and occurs to frequently. Outlier IMO should only happen on max effort pitches and only be available until 50% stamina. RP pumping it constantly is fine, because that happens. Nobody is torching 102mph fastballs for 7 innings.

A man (Verlander in this case) shouldn't be penalized for holding back velo in the first innings. He is trying for complete games which is a rarity in baseball these days.

I think both Verlander and Gibson should get a Buff. In a game where avg. players get God level stats and abilities, here you have two of the best to ever do it and they are barely usable.
