I’m a Jays fan so I’ve seem a ton of Chris Davis over the years. The last few years, he looks absolutely lost at the plate. It’s almost sad to see. Swings and misses and doesn’t even come close to the ball

He’s lost in his own head. As an O’s fan it was/is really tough to see. But the money in his contract is spent whether you keep him or not.
But one important thing to remember this year and next is that the team might save millions by keeping him if Covid cancels more games. If next year half the season gets canceled and he’s still on the roster, they only have to pay him half of his $17M salary since all active players get their salary reduced by the number of games missed. If they cut him, they would have to pay him the full $17M even if there is no season in 2021. Crazy, but true.

On a similar note, what was the deal with players who opted out? Did the dodgers have to pay any part of David price’s salary?

In short, no. If a player opted out this year, he forgave his salary too. Unless he is deemed to be in a high-risk group personally (like if he has asthma), in which case he could opt out but still get paid. I think almost all the guys who opted out this year didn’t get paid.

From what I remember, he was diagnosed with ADHD and used Adderall for treatment. He had two failed drug tests, the second of which resulted in a 25 game suspension back in 2015.
Instead of using the banned Adderall, he now receives a year long exemption under the drug testing policy and uses an approved medication, Vyvanse. The difference between the two drugs is that Adderall is fast-acting and Vyvanse is a slow-release acting drug. That’s why Adderall is common as a performance enhancer.
His performance and career numbers dropped dramatically after switching medications.

He hits like I do in RS. Every once in a while he hits it a mile, but 99% of the time it’s a swing and miss.

He was my favorite player to watch in his prime years though. Man, that was entertaining.
