I'm struggling to find a 4th and 5th starter that I can be consistent with. I've got Maddux (prestige), Sale, Smoltz (almost prestiged), deGrom (finest), and my 5th has been a total mess. Right now I've got Oriel in there. I've tried Marichal, Gibson, Kershaw, Seaver, Wood and not had good results with any of them. I've also used all the new better Finest guys (Bauer, Bieber, Cole, Lamet, Castillo) in the event and they all felt like trash. Seemed like people were able to foul off everything until they got meatball. Just couldn't seem to put anyone away.

I've got about 330k, but I could sell Honus for more stubs if needed. I could also do a CAP starter if that was worth doing. I'm actually working on the reliever currently at the gold, so I could switch to the starter for diamond if it's really worth it. What are some thoughts? I'm not opposed to swapping out Smoltz or deGrom possibly either. I haven't used deGrom in an RS game yet.

I think Kopech is going to be good. I was going to grind the event, seemed like too much work, so I bought him last night.

I have a ton of starters. Probably 12 I’ll use here and there, and I think he will be good.

Awards Scherzer has been at the top of my rotation since he came out. 2.40 ERA 0.73 WHIP online in 56.1 IP. MA Paxton has also been solid, I've got him prestige and he can give top competition fits. MA Carrasco also felt really good in the one game I used him, but my opponent dashboarded after 3 IP so the same size is almost non-existent. FOTF Burnett can also be nasty when used correctly.

If you're good with Smoltz, good on you. For me it's batting practice when I see him and batting practice for my opponent when I use him.

I’ve been surprised how well I’ve don’t with Smoltz. I do have Paxton prestiged as well. He was great for a while, but last couple outings weren’t good at all. I haven’t tried Scherzer yet cause I was terrible with him last year. I can’t seem to find the right mix of his pitches. I may try him since he’s so cheap now.

FOTF Burnett has been good for me. People don't use him much, but he is effective.

You may have had the winning pick. Got awards Scherzer last night and he went 9 innings, 1 ER and 7 K's. Didn't get the win because the game went extra innings with one of the biggest jokes I've seen with the games inconsistent hitting engine.

1-1 game bottom of the 9th I pinch hit finest Soto vs . First pitch 99 mph fastball from Billy Wagner that I get a perfect swing on and hits off the top fo the fence in CF. I did choke driving him in because it was a triple. I was just dumbfounded that it didn't go out and couldn't focus the next AB and swung at trash.

After trying most pitchers I have settled with these 5. I finally removed Maddux because his velo is to slow and he started getting hammered a lot.

    1. Degrom finest 99
    2. Hershiser 99
    3. Bauer finest 99
    4. Kluber 99
    5. Darvish 99 (this one may change)

I haven't tried deGrom yet in an RS game, but he's in my rotation. Oriel and Kluber I've wanted to like. They just leave way too many hangers for me. I used Bauer in 3 or 4 event games and his ERA is over 5. Darvish is the only one you mentioned I haven't tried, but he doesn't have a change up does he? I think that's why I don't do well with Bauer, no change up. I hate using curveballs this year.

Never use Events to judge a pitcher. It’s just not the same gameplay at all

Baltimore FOTF Jim Palmer 98 - rarely face him on other teams but always find he's got good control and a loopy curve which can get outs. Hope it helps

Darvish is filthy. Just be as random as possible with your locations and your opponent will have a tough time. I’ve had fun spraying the ball around with him in RS
and making people look stupid, the break on his pitches is pretty insane.
