I bought my own PS4 exclusively for the The Show. My kids were hogging it too much!
Heh. I did that (I think it was a PS2 though) when SOCOM was out. My boys and I would end up playing teams with one in the bedroom and the other in the front room. It was during that game that my boys gave me my username...

I’d be up for a league. I’ll have to scrap my super heroes team (yeah, a mix of DC and Marvel heroes on one team, using their real names instead of their hero names).

Love this post! I'm with the rest of you, 43 year old Dad of 2 here. Been playing baseball games since I was very young on the old Intellivision which I believe rivaled Atari at the time. From there graduating to Nintendo and so and and so on. Like some others have mentioned I loved the old game Baseball Stars. Fake teams and fake players but the ability to play a season and track stats and all that was awesome. I did the same as someone else said too, playing RBI baseball and tracking my own stats. My friends and I used to play seasons and track are stats and all that kind of stuff. At one point we even made up a D and D (Dungeons and Dragons) type dice based baseball game. We would have drafts and form teams with baseball cards and had several different types of dice and roll for hits and all that. It was so long ago I can't even remember all the details but we had it down pretty good. We would roll a hundred sided dice and use a players batting average on the back of their card to determine whether they got a hit or not. Like if a guy had a .340 average you would have to roll under 34 on the dice to get a hit. We then had a system similar to that to determine what type of hit it was. Good times!
I get made fun of too by my wife and kids for playing this game and getting as into it as much as I do. I usually play later at night to have more peace and quiet since this game requires so much concentration. I play a lot more now than I used to with more time at home due to the pandemic and all that. I think it would be an awesome idea for a league made of with some of us older guys and I'd definitely be down for that!
WOW Intellivision had the BEST baseball check out "World Series Major League Baseball" For the intellivision ECS it came out 1981/2 AMAZING for its time.
I remember that game! Not sure exactly what year my Dad bought our Intellivision but in 1981/1982 I would've been 5 and 6 years old. I would say I was more like 7 or 8 but I can't remember exactly. It was definitely ahead of it's time though, being able to have a video game system at your house! You used to have to go to this thing called an arcade to play video games....haha. I played all those Intellivision games, the basketball game they had was pretty fun too. I wish I still had that thing, it would be fun to hook up and see what I think of all those games today.
This was a diff game it was for the Intellivision ECS (Entertainment Computer System) it was a limited thing and didnt take off before the great crash of 1983 but this baseball game was one of its main games. from a simple google search.......
Intellivision World Series Major League Baseball is a baseball sports game, designed by Don Daglow and Eddie Dombrower and published by Mattel for the Intellivision Entertainment Computer System. IWSB was one of the first sports games to use multiple camera angles and present a three-dimensional perspective. It was also the first statistics-based baseball simulation game on a video game console; all prior console baseball games were arcade-style recreations of the sport. -
This is the best. What started as one post led to some new friends. So, let’s make some decisions and fire it up:
- All Star or HOF?
- CAPS (I have to admit I have zero idea what this means) - does that mean max player rating? Or created player?
- People who want to play (let’s go right to the max if we can, maybe set a commitment date by the end of this weekend?)
- Someone to help us out setting it up with the invites and all
- Limited to all dads or over 40 league, or both?
Personally, I like the idea of all star just for the fun of it. Playing HOF in the event has made me think my hand eye isn’t what it used to be. But I’m good with majority on any of this.

53, two teenagers. This is how I shut my brain off after work.

I agree man, let's fire it up.
I'm alright with either one, AS or HOF. I'm not the greatest player at all, mostly struggle with hitting and scoring runs but I'd like to think I'm a pretty good pitcher in this game. I'd be willing to play on either one though.
When someone refers to a CAP they are usually referring to a "create a player". Someone may have been asking if create a players would be allowed. I personally don't use a CAP and never have. I just like the idea of playing with real players but I don't mind if someone else plays with one, it is part of this game I suppose.
I've never participated in a league, let alone set one up so I'm not sure what the best method to getting this done is. I've read other posts about people starting leagues and using discord or other apps to communicate with each other and arrange game times.

49 here, had to give my teenage daughter my other ps4(had one in bedroom, one in family room) so she would stop cutting into my time. Got back into The Show last year after quite a few years off and I was a first time DD player. Had an insane amount of free time due to having knee replacement surgery. Don't play nearly as much as last year, but due to Covid more than I will be after we come out of this pandemic.

I have played in one league and the Created Player is not allowed. When CAP is used in leagues it means the limit of your team like events. This late I’m the year I vote for the limit to be 99 so you can use all of the studs you have accumulated this far.

Also, do we all have to be on the same version? I have 16-19. I haven’t bought 20 yet (I usually play a year behind).

‘fraid so, Leagues only exist presently in TS20. Even if there were leagues in the other games cross-version-play would not be possible.

I'd say I agree. This late in the year everyone probably has a pretty stacked team so a 99 cap makes sense. With all the content too most likely every team won't look alike.

Sorry guys I work nights so just seeing your responses...the way custom leagues work you can either play with your DD teams or you can choose to play with live roster (real life teams)...if you do live roster league you will be able to make trades and other guys don’t al have similar cards/players....another cool way to do it is play with DD teams but only choose one team-for example an all-time Cardinals team in which you can only use players/cards from one specific team...if we did that we could do a randomized team selection and pick which teams you want to use? Just some thoughts

45 year old dad of 2, started with Atari Baseball and most baseball games since then every year. I didn't see it mentioned here but Old TIme Baseball for PC was one of my favourites, you could play virtually any season with relevant era gameplay (example dead ball era) and it had some of the classic stadiums. Baseball Stars was also a favourite.
I play The Show daily both franchise mode and RTTS, haven't really gotten into online play because I assumed that I wouldn't be competitive but a 40+ league is interesting.
