Mickey Mantle

A lot of people earlier in the year made this complaint after first getting him. Just keep at it, he is amazing. Second only to MVP Trout

It's a matter of getting used to his swing. I started off slow batting like .130 in his first 30 or 40 at bats, then I got comfortable and raised his avg up to .280+

As others say just stick with him. Once you get used to him, he hits ropes all over the place and is so clutch with runners in scoring position. Still my best bat and best glove several months later. I even like him better than Trout.

Give it time. Eventually his swing becomes smooth and he hammers balls.

Stick with him you may get used to him. If you can get comfortable with the swing I think he is the best all around card in the game. I love trout but I like the switch hitting aspect and just feel a bit more comfortable stealing bases with mantle. With mantle if the situation makes sense I will steal. With trout for some reason I don’t even try.

Same boat bro. I tried but i cant do [censored] with him. Hes on the bench right now and Yelich took his spot cause i cant get anything going. Sux all those stubs but oh well

It took me a while to get the feel for Mantle's swing. I think most of the player base has had to go through an adjustment period with Mantle.

I feel you man but I dont have enough time to let cards come around so I use whomever i rake with and plug the others in once in awhile

Oddly enough I raked with this card batting like 350+ than I prestiged him and I cant hit over .220 with him. i have heard of a lot of people of people who havent found success with him but I would just keep trying with him his defense is pretty much flawless so that's an upside if u don't hit great with him

Started off slow very slow but one day it clicked and he leads my team in HR's now (all modes)

Don’t be discouraged. When I first got him I couldn’t hit the side of a barn with him. But after about what was probably a month I started to hit. So i would just give it some time

This is how it was for me too. Now he is a beast

People press with him and opponents pitch around. Be patient at the plate.

I feel like his swing starts slow but ends fast if that makes sense. So it seems like a slow swing but once you get thru the load up and you start swinging the bat speed seems to pick up speed finishing the swing. Once you get the swing down you'll crush with him. Go do custom practice that way you don't have to play rs with a guy you have trouble hitting with.

Trout plays infinitely better for me than mantle. It’s not even close, but this game is mostly mental and preference so do what works for you. I still start him out of principle but he’s probably my 6th-7th best hitter. I’ve been raking with Pujols and most people say he’s not that great. I say that just to point out 1 size doesn’t fit all in this game

I was doing ok with him and I felt good about things wasnt looking for advice on Mantle. I was just reading through the differnt topics when I saw a poster mention to someone struggling with him after getting him about how Mantle really crushes low balls and lower in the zone really plays to his strength based on his swing type. After seeing that I started looking for opportunities to really put good swings on low in the zone pitches and I think it was then that I really started hitting balls hard more often. Obviously you still have to work with what you getting from the pitcher. Its my second year playing and im not an amazing hitter but have been pretty good with Mickey. I also prefer a little quicker swing typically and dont really have a lot of guys with the longer swings but Mickey has been 1 of my best and only Award's Trout hits a better long ball. When you juice one with Mantle it really feels and sounds great. Keep at it you will love him.
