87th percentile in sprint speed???
And yet he's still 72nd overall in sprint speed, are you saying Whit Merrifield should have 90 speed then? That Cody Bellinger should have 94 speed? Tim Anderson should have 96 speed? Ohtani should have 96 speed?
All those players are listed as faster then Betts.
Trevor Story future 97 speedster.

Speed is related to SBs but doesn't automatically equate.

Yes, I threw facts out also. Yes SPEED is equivalent to steals, how can it NOT??? So ur saying a guy with 20 speed can steal a base consistantly?
Kevin McRenolds.

Babe Ruth had 123 steals including 10 of home. Should he have 85 speed?Smoltz hit 5 bombs I mean might as well make that 125 power Smoltz card we all want lolol

Needs to have more than 68 speed!! Come on SDS!! He needs to have ATLEAST 85 speed!!
I never thought that I would agree with a Yankee fan, but yes, you are absolutely correct.
I have seen just about every Dodgers game this year and he undoubtedly has greater than 62 speed. He just runs so smooth and effortlessly in the field and on the bases, that maybe someone could think that he is not running that fast?....Not sure of the logic with that thinking, but it is not even debatable at this point, 62 is incredibly too low. I would modestly give him somewhere around 80-85. -
If anything, up his steal and baserunning stats. Make everyone happy.

Repeat after me. Steals do not = speed, steals do not = speed!
Steals are a personal stat, a person has to want to steal. Like my example, Tyler O'Neill is top 5 in sprint speed, but he doesn't steal, that doesn't mean he isn't fast.
Yadier Molina had 6 steals in 2019, does that mean he was the 2nd fastest catcher in all of baseball behind Realmuto? Of course not, he's slow as molasses.
I mean, we've all seen cards with low speed at high stealing. Wasn't there a Joe Mauer card in like '17 (rookie?) that actually had 99 stealing?
As a Mets fan, I KNOW stealing and speed do NOT correlate. I watch Amed Rosario get thrown out game after game. I also watch base runner after base runner take advantage of Syndergaard's ignorance of them.
PS. RIP the good Jose Reyes.

Agreed, also remember when we had Daniel Murphy? He wasn't fast but he picked his spots and almost always got his stolen base.

87th percentile in sprint speed???
That would make me think 87 speed would be appropriate would it not?

That's not really how it works, he is 87th percentile but that isn't exactly speed, it means he's well above average, but def not 87 speed. He deserves more then 68, probably low 70s, but for comparison, Bellinger and Ohtani are faster.

There are three running attributes.
Speed - How fast the player runs
Steal - How good of a jump the runner can get
Agressiveness - Ability to read balls and take extra bases.Speed is tricky as it has implications on the basepaths and in the field. Mookie in this case is hurt by his 3 year average sprint speed prior to this year. Could he get a speed bump, maybe.
We can't compare legends here because for a majority of them there isn't reliable data (Fix Stan Musial). Live series players though are subjected to data SDS has access to which is then put into their formula. Every player is subjected to the same formula.
I would prefer they use a scientific method as to the old eyeball test.
