Do you platoon any players in RS?
-
I’m curious if you guys use regular platoons vs LHP/RHP. Since they don’t have the option for us to set two different lineups(which I think is ridiculous).
Now that some of these cards came out with maxed out stats vs one side(JRam, Mondesi, Darnaud), I’m curious if you guys are platooning certain positions. I don’t really want to lose any bench players at the start of a game, but I was thinking of trying it at 3B to start and playing JRam vs LHP and maybe try the new 99 Correa vs RHP since his splits are better. Thoughts?

I don't platoon because it eats up the bench before first pitch and there's nothing to stop your opponent from throwing opposite handed out of the pen after you've brought in players with favorable splits. I try to stay away from cards with high split differentials.
That being said, I know some platoon with success.

I've thought about platooning Babe and Pujols, but haven't committed to that idea yet

I feel like with the starting pitcher stamina stuff people would be less likely to do that, especially if it’s just 1-2 hitters.

Apologies, I should have clarified. I meant later in the game, but I theoretically your opponent could make a change in the 1st inning, as well.

I used to do this! Made WS in 2017 doing that as well as using a lot of switch hitters. Took a break, this year is much different. I just try to get better with same handed hitting. Mike Trout is a beast vs. righties and so clutch. I can't justify taking him out unless it's a huge moment, and even then, that doesn't really make sense right? You want the best hitter in there.
I do keep my bench with the thought that I can platoon multiple players if I really have a hard time against a pitcher and need to get something going. But those platoon guys can run, play multiple infield positions, absolutely crush opposite handed pitching, and play good D.

I platoon Will Clark and Bagwell. Used to do Helton and Bagwell. I start the lefty and bring in Bagwell if a lefty starter is going. I also usually start a lefty in LF. If I'm facing a tough lefty, sometimes I bring in Posey for the LFer and then swap him to C and move Biggio to LF
