I have no earthly idea what to do. Some context..........
I started playing about a couple months ago so I'm pretty far behind on player programs, having boss programs finished (work limits me severely with play time), and im still coming along slowly with moments for topps now, potm etc etc.
Obviously I know he is the most expensive "gatekeeper" to Mantle, and this is legit the first time I've ever had a Troutesque pull from packs since I started playing in 17. I don't really know what cards I'd want if I sold him, but 270k on top of the 50k I have could open up so many possibilities for buying a few sick cards, or my line of thinking finishing a ton of teams for the ls collection, but at the cost of losing the most expensive key...........
Im thinking I just wanna hold on to him for the time being without locking him into anything, but I really don't know.
If you were in my shoes what would you do?

I would think about selling him to buy some smaller LS cards to finish a few collections that give diamond cards as the reward, then I would buy some of my favorite cheap players (run it back players) just to use as a base team.

If you have no real intention to use him or unlock Mantel then you sell now. He is at his highest value right now. Yes a stub sale could see him increase but the likely hood is SDS will alter the market for live series players in some way via packs wethers is cutting pack prices in half, adding more HL bundles for a cheaper price either way his price will fall in the very near future
I would sell bank the stubs and pick him up later when his price comes down

My opinion, since you said you don’t play much, if you’re not going to play enough to get Mantle by around Christmas or later, I would sell to get other cards you’ll enjoy to play until TS21 comes out.
But I’m also someone who plays strictly offline, so he’s not as critical to my lineup as he is to guys who play online

I'd sell him now.
His price can only go down and i expect it to once SDS does more pack sales of whatever kind.

This is a really good point. Sds always seems to do some year end sales after the season. Something I didn't say that is important is that A. I am not very good online so my chances for br and event diamonds are non existent, and also B. I don't spend money on the game other than the actual copy of the game which makes it seem impossible to realistically be able to get say Verlander, Trout, Cole on top of having DeGrom which is why I'd rather try and complete as many collections as possible. I'm doing well regarding collecting commons, bronzes, and silver players with teams.

I've waited so long to pull Trout, and yet all this time DeGrom was the jackpot hahaha I could not believe it at all. As soon as the Mets jersey popped up I lost it

Just out of curiosity, what’s your target price range for DeGrom? I’ve seen you mention that you needed to afford him to finish. I finally got him a couple weeks ago @ $205ish

Less than 100,000 stubs is my ideal price. I just can't afford much beyond that at the moment, at least not until I'm able to grind and flip cards from RIB conquest.

Unless his overall drops to an 89 like Cole or Mad Max, I don’t know that you’ll see it get under 135K (but I’m not expert on the market by any means)

If you need to improve your team, sell. Then either buy the cards you want, or, if you haven’t already, use the stubs to advance your team affinity programs to 100% by way of exchanges. To start from absolute zero in a team affinity and go to 100% requires 19 exchanges of 50000 points. No matter if you use silvers, or golds and diamonds for speed, each 50k exchange should cost you around 5k, you can obtain the cards at quick sell value right now. That’s 95,000 stubs. However, in the case of some TA programs, like Hershiser, or Kerry Wood, not only will you obtain a sellable legend from stage 3 that retails for around 60-70k, you also have to factor in the free stubs, TA packs and Ballin is a Habit packs. Realistically, you can at least break even, if not show a profit, from these teams affinity programs simply by doing exchanges to progress.

Just an update for everybody...........Considering Mantle wasn't going to happen for me...........I sold him and made more stubs than I've ever seen in my life. Don't regret it
