Extreme program and my mental well-being
-
Yikes. This is my first year on the Extreme program. I don't know how you people do this. I have ups and downs playing RS, but this is insane (extreme?). I go from absolute despair (failing missions over and over) to absolute joy (getting 3 pitches right down the middle in my 1st attempt on 3 Yellich HRs).
SDS should set up a hotline with a licensed therapist on-call.

It’s not for everyone, that’s for sure. You have to accept it as a challenge and try to have fun with it. If you’re not having fun and it makes you mad and violent (I’ve seen guys throw controllers through walls), then yeah it’s not for you.
I enjoy them, I love the challenge. Yeah I get upset and frustrated but then I take a break from it and come back later. Gotta show some self restraint. Games are supposed to be a hobby and fun. Not get grumpy, aggressive and break stuff

This game, online at least, is one of the most frustrating experiences ever.
These CPU missions don’t get to me at all.

I wanted to smash my controller last night trying to get through the HRD team mission. No matter how long and down I throw every pitch Aaron Judge or Griffey Manage to blast one out.. Like wtffffffff

I've never had issues with showdown but this one I can't hit nothing...I've failed just the first one over an over.. finally win 3 in a row then lose... I've won 3 an skipped to pearson only to strike out 15 times in a row because I can't hit 102 mph fastball...so I take a break do the mo moment beat it first try then I do yelich 3 hr moment beat it in 5 tries go back to showdown lose first mission lol...it definitely makes you earn I'll tell you that...I don't really need the cards but I got everything else completed an 5 million stubs so I'm doing it to have something to do besides ranked.all I can say is keep at it an do like the other guy said take a break an don't break controllers lol

I finished it yesterday, the cards aren't really worth it but the packs are. I packed 2 rare rounds of the beach ball packs and also 1 from the HRD pack. Bunch of golds and lower diamonds from everything else, you get a ton of headliner packs and also 20+ BIAH packs and around 100 standard packs.

I also packed rare in both BB. Sold both for 100K a piece (before tax). Base in everything else except a prospect pack (rare). Then in BIAH and standard packs, got Cole, mookie and a couple other quicksell diamonds. Still a good haul

It's difficult for sure, but I like how the difficulty levels seem tiered. Showdown and conquest aren't the worst thing ever - yes, Showdown has a lot of RNG in there to mess up progress, and Conquest is a time-sink, but they're both do-able by average players. It's nice there are rewards for players like me.
Extreme Moments on the other hand.... -
I’ve been considering smashing my monitor all morning, since I need a new one for the PS5 anyways. Lol
But seriously as irritating and exploitive as these feel, one thing for certain is you’ll be a much better player once you make it out.
I just try to remember how much I love baseball and that seems to be getting me through it -
I'll do Conquest (playing on HOF which i never do is actually easier than Rookie, Veteran, and All-Star) and i'll give the Showdown one or two tries, but those moments can go walk off a cliff. I hate moments and have hated them since last year. complete waste of time IMHO. I'll get Yelich and move on. Gehrig doesn't exist for me.
-
The original Showdown was more difficult and the Conquest is just time consuming not at all difficult. The moments however drive me nutz. I don't have the patience to do them over and over again. I would say Moments Extreme is giving me a headache and I may never complete them if more content gets dropped. I would give SDS high marks for creating a program that requires a good deal of effort however is not completely overwhelming. Most will be able to get through some of these tasks and get rewarded but only the die hards will have Lou.

Honestly since completing the program. I’m killing it in RS, Events and BR. I’m more selective/patient, wait for my pitch
-
I enjoyed it, kind of, last year, but the rewards were worth the frustration. This year I feel no motivation to even bother. Stan the Man is great, Babe is great, no need to bench one of them (or heaven forbid, do all this for a bench bat). I loved Lou last year, but I'll survive just fine with Babe.
-
Is nate Pearson honestly even worth the effort? I don’t feel like he’s going to be very good and I don’t need Gehrig so... thoughts?
-
I had success in my first ranked game with Pearson, couple hits, no runs, eight innings pitched. He throws a 94mph slider with great movement, that’s insane. Used that the majority of the time, then fastball/change for out pitches. Don’t throw the curve though.

I agree. I'm played it for Pearson, XP, and the packs. Lou will be subbing Stan on my bench.
