Ron Gardenhire Quits as Tigers Manager

So if Detroit's season couldn't get any worse, Ron Gardenhire just quit as GM of the Tigers. He cited health issues given that he had stomach problems in Minnesota the other week, but I can't help but wonder if he just quit because the team was doing poorly.
Who do you think will take over next season? Maybe Alan Trammell might give managing another shot?

I actually know Gardy. He would not quit just because the team is doing poorly. This is all about his health. Wishing him all the best.

Really? Cool that you met him. It's just really unfortunate that he's retiring at this moment. But maybe this can work out, if we find someone who can do a great job next season

I highly doubt he quit because of the teams performance. I believe it had everything to do with his health both current and past.
As far as Tram getting another shot, I doubt that. I honestly hope they clean house and bring a whole new staff. McClendon does not excite me as a potential manager and the rest of the staff are Gardy's guys. -

I highly doubt he quit because of the teams performance. I believe it had everything to do with his health both current and past.
As far as Tram getting another shot, I doubt that. I honestly hope they clean house and bring a whole new staff. McClendon does not excite me as a potential manager and the rest of the staff are Gardy's guys.I doubt McClendon is gonna be permanent, he's probably just taking over for the interim until next season. I miss that old man Leland, the managing has just been disappointing from Ausmus and afterward.

He quit because of his health. He’s a big family man and hasn’t been doing well lately.

Because I don't want to make another thread. With JV getting Tommy John surgery he'll most likely spend the rest of his current contract rehabbing. Would the Tigers make an incentive laden pitch to him to come back in 2022?

Wish him all the best as well. He doesn't strike me as the type that would up and and quit like that so like others have mentioned, I would think that it's health related. Whatever it is, best wishes.

I would love that! It'd be great to have JV back as a Tiger, managing for us. Maybe he can whip all our pitchers into shape

Probably Lloyd McClendon. Obviously I’d like someone different, but the players we have all seem to trust him and respect him. May be best to just fill this one in house.

I pray that McClendon is able to turn things around and get this team competitive again. Someone like him who's familiar with the players can be a good lightning rod to rally around.
