Thats like saying if Trout doesn’t get MVP whoever else wins it doesn’t count.

I'm going to guess your either a fan of the Nats, or a team that probably won't win.

Stats will be counted. Awards will be given out. Banners will be hung. Champions will be crowned. And Kevin still won't go 12-0

But come on, last year lowest point for Nats was 19-31 (not far from mark now) and it took a full season of games for them to fight to even get to WC. Short season now and a team can be hot for a few weeks and that could be enough to reach PS. Feel like this has all the markings to be an asterisk season.

Ok, but all teams have the same footing, you could say that about any team that hasn't started hot.
Yes it's a different season and it should be treated somewhat differently, but saying it doesn't count or that there is an asterisk on it is not the right way to treat it.
You can acknowledge the circumstances without pooing on whatever team wins. If the Cardinals win (they won't), I'll be just as happy as if it was a regular season

I actually agree. Trout is the MVP every year. Same as Michael Jordan was every year. They can go ahead and give someone else the award, but in the words of Rob Manfred.....”it’s just a piece of metal”.

How would you propose it be treated? Would suggesting the trophy be smaller be too petty?

You would have to go back to 1981 for a division winner that played less than 100 games. They split the season in two due to the strike, so you had two winners of each division.
MLB has never played a regular season of less than 111 games so it does feel different for sure, no "dog days of summer" for the teams to go through.
It is definitely unique but not sure how they could recognize that without seeming insulting.

Meh, both MLBPA + owners had opportunity to have a longer season but wasted that on contract terms back-and-forth. You’ve got how many guys out right opting out of the season which is unprecedented.
Then you start and stop and restart a spring training interrupting the standard flow of the players + teams and then jam as many games as possible into an accelerated schedule and god forbid teams miss games due to COVID then rescheduling and stacking even more games.
I love baseball but this has just been pushed out for the purposes of revenue and the risk of personal health for countless seems unnecessary.
I think reasonably they should have just scrapped the season and tried again next year.
