imo Babe Ruth comes at a greater cost than any card in the game. I hate playing the cpu and that looks like a very boring, time consuming grind to me. So I definitely won’t be getting that “free” card

Its definitely a grind. I did it all in about 2 days. But with all the stubs, xp, and packs and guys it's worth it. I haven't used him yet, but I'm excited to try him out.

I scrolled through the teams that you have to play and my heart sank when I read "Hall of Fame." I can barely hold my own against All-Star this year!

Do the Cody Bellinger POTM program. He is free and you get a 97 Diamond 1B who hits tanks.

Babe or Thomas. I planned on not picking up any of last innings bosses but I took Frank for a test drive and now he's on my bench. You can get through the babe program, no rush, it's worth it.

Bellinger is probably the easiest way to a great 1b, and his D will be better than pretty much anyone else you'd put there.

Not only that, a 1b with a great swing and speed. He also has a cannon which could help throwing across the diamond.

Beli also gets an obnoxious shift played on him as well. I have bunted numerous times down the third base line for easy singles.

Bellinger is great. Another option is Thome - who absolutely rakes!

Ruth hands down. He won’t be leaving my lineup for the rest of the year.

Ruth, but to fit your stub amount; Thome is the a very good choice. He’s pretty cheap at the moment.

Babe Ruth for sure. Put his [censored] at first base.
Cody bellinger put him in Left Field.
Didi Gregorious put him at 2B
    Sandberg and put at 3B
Those cards are all free and all hit bombs.

Ruth is unrivaled. If you are strictly looking for a card you can purchase, Thome can obliterate pitches. He also plays 3rd in a pinch, or late game swap if needed.

Mattingly is also a diamond D 1B and hits pretty darn good but his speed is only 40. He can be had for 10 or 11K

I scrolled through the teams that you have to play and my heart sank when I read "Hall of Fame." I can barely hold my own against All-Star this year!

Babe Ruth no doubt about it in my opinion is the best 1B in the game. If you don't want to put in the time to get Babe, there are some other good options for you. I can't speak for cards I haven't used but from my experience other than Babe, I would probably say Stan Musial is the next best option. Beyond that, Thome is a good option and I also liked using that Harmon Kilibrew card at first. Those are the cards I've used at 1B this year in addition to Ortiz but he might be a little bit out of your price range.

Regarding the Babe program, don't get overwhelmed with it. I saw "Hall of Fame", and like you, thought I don't know if I can do this. I'm a Padre fan so initially I went into it thinking I'll play a bunch of the 3 inning games and if nothing else at least get that Trevor Hoffman card. I typically only play RS and have never done any of these programs in the past so I really didn't know what to expect. Once you get it down and kind of figure out the best way to attack the CPU it isn't actually that difficult. I lost a few of the 3 inning games early on but after I got the hang of it I breezed through it. I say just start off playing a few of the 3 inning games on All Star and see how it goes for you and I think you'll find it easier than you think. Sure, it does take some time which can be a bit of a grind but knock a few games out whenever you have the time. In the end it's worth it. I don't think we see a better first baseman than Babe this year and if stubs are an issue for you, you can't beat free.

I mean Ruth is free but unless you have a weekend to absolutely kill you'll need to find a stop gap player. Helton would be solid right at your stubs limit or you could save a few with Thome. There would be nothing wrong with McGriff as a cheap option. If you haven't jumped into the recent conquest maps you could get some quick diamonds to sell and go after Musial for a few more stubs than you cururently have in the piggy bank. I'm partial but I've absolutely loved Musial's card this year.

I'm using Future Stars Dylan Carlson until I finish off the Babe Ruth program. This has allowed me to sell of my Eddie Murray PS card for way more than he is worth (although year in and year out he is my favorite 1B to use) while still having a switch hitting 1B...Gold D and 76 speed in the corner doesn't hurt either.

I'm looking for a good first baseman who can become a mainstay of my lineup. I've been using Matt Wieters and Daniel Murphy at that position, but I'd like a dedicated, primary first baseman that I can count on.

Based on the players who are currently in the game, who would be best? I'm willing to accept third basemen with first as a secondary position as well.

My balance is around 55,000 stubs.

Edwin Encarnacion is a VERY good free card!! I’d recommend him before you spend any Stubbs!

Agreed. I forgot about him. He absolutely has raked for me online in events.Good choice. He is not the swiftest fielder but with a 51 speed, he is a very serviceable player with a lot of power
