Did I hear correctly in the stream for custom leagues that player stats will not carry over from season to season?

That is correct.
User stats for wins, playoffs etc will though.
It's not online franchise. Your players will not age.
You can play 20 seasons. It will have the same guys with the same LS ratings all year long.
