My hometown team making a run for it! Only hedges, Naylor, and Quantrill! They don’t really need those guys

I'm not super familiar with the Padres farm system but it seems like they got Clevinger for less than expected.

I assume Clevinger's fallout in the clubhouse and loss of respect with his teammates worked heavily against Cleveland on this one. Other teams could lowball the Indians because they knew Cleveland pretty much had to unload Clevinger.

Yeah, they didn't give up anyone close to their top guys, San Diego is loaded with prospects like C.J. Abrams, Mackenzie Gore, Luis Patino.

They made it out like a bandit imo.

As a tribe fan, I respect the decision to have him traded away. This was definitely a much needed move after the clubhouse cancer it was beginning to cause. Padres farm is loaded, I'm fine with the return. It is what it is.

I expected both of these teams to be very good, but not for another 2 years. Anyone that follows prospects and farm systems closely know that both of these teams were on the cusp of a big run. I’m glad to see them hit their stride early. Both will be very good teams for years to come IMO

The Clevinger trade only makes sense to me if the padres will be able to keep him for at least a year or two beyond 2020, because trading away anything significant for a one year rental in a season where the world series winner will always have a huge asterisk attached to their title is beyond moronic.

Considering the unusual circumstances, I wouldn't be opposed to it if MLB had decided to just treat this year as an extended spring training where stats aren't officially recorded and nobody is officially recognized as champion. In fact, I think it's stupid if it even counts as a year on a player's contract.

Live what my Pads were able to do! They really filled a lot of holes and most of the guys they got are controllable beyond this season. They gave up a lot of prospects but didn't touch any of their main core of top end guys. I liked some of the guys they got rid of but for what they got back it was a great job by Preller. Go Pads!!

I do like Quantrill though. I think once he has a chance to start every 5 days he'll be at the least a solid starter. Hedges is one of the best in baseball defensively but you can't have a buck 90 batting average over your 4 year career and be a starting catcher, and i love being able to get Austin Nola from Seattle. We made out in these deals though its gonna be an exciting second half of ball for us for sure

I like all of the trades except the Seattle one, Trammel shouldn't have been included

Yeah it is tough to see Trammel go, I would agree. We badly needed a C that could hit though and I love getting Nola in return. Trammel was one of our top prospects and if he turns out to be a perennial All Star this will turn out to be a bad trade in all likelihood. However, if getting Nola helps us win a world series I'll take it.
