Requirements for monthly?

Guessing this might have been covered in a recent stream......and apologies if this has been covered elsewhere on the forum but I'm a combination of swamped at work and too lazy to sift through...
So have they clarified the requirements for unlocking the August POTM? I'm assuming that it is a purely collection thing based on the section set up in Collections....and that once the cards are named there will be someone matching each tier along the player path? Or is this still guess work and there could possibly still be a missions/moments component like previous months (I much prefer that to "collect $$$ worth of stubs)?
If it is all collection based is this to suggest that you'll need all 24 for Tatis and so he'll essentially cost $200k+? Any chance these cards will become available through other means (i.e. purchase packs, program path, conquest etc.) and the cards will go down to around quick sell, or more likely they'll sky rocket once Tatis is named?
Again, apologies if this has been covered but I'm struggling to find the time to keep up with all the content updates so any guidance would be super appreciated.

if you go to collections it says you need 24 topps now+monthly awards cards under lightning. This could change but thats what we know so far

It will stay for sure, it would be smart to invest in them since the POTM lightning is almost guaranteed to be Tatis

Ohhhh......so it could be like in previous years where there are some monthly awards cards released in packs only, some available via monthly moments etc. , and then need to collect 24 out of a pool of maybe 30 cards?
Pretty much back to the way it was for monthly awards last year?

They put a TN pack in the shark map. I would be surprised if that was a one-time deal, so I expect last week’s TN pack will show up in the conquest map that drops this Friday.
Even still, I don’t think it will be possible to collect 24 cards right away without buying at least a few. I have gotten all the packs and I only have 15 (I think) as of right now. They’re being a lot more generous with TN this year (as far as I remember), but I doubt we will be able to get 9 freebies this week. But, I think there were silver and gold TN last year, so if they do something like that again this year, you might be able to buy 9 without breaking the bank.

What confused me is that there is “Lightning” section in the Trout Collection, but there is no voucher (as of yet) in the Trout Collection for completing the “Lightning” section.

So no way that tatis 48 hour card, if it ends up being the lightning card, is worth anywhere near 200k.

I've been wondering about all this a lot lately too. Being a Padre fan that Tatis Jr. card will be must have for me. There are currently 21 topps now cards available in the market, and it says you'll need to collect 24 topps now cards plus monthly awards cards. I;m assuming that can be any combination of the two as long as you collect 24? I don't really do any of the POTM missions or whatever they are to obtain those cards and I don't see them available in the market this year. I thought in previous years the monthly awards cards were available in the market but I could be wrong on that? So, if there are new topps now cards being released in the coming week or so, I would assume they would release 3 putting the total at 24 available topps now cards available in the market. If that's the case, I would be able to just buy the 24 topps now cards, complete the collection, and get Tatis Jr.? That would be my plan to avoid doing any of the missions or whatever to get some of the monthly awards. Unless those cards also become available in the market then I would just go after whatever is cheapest. If I am able to buy all the topps now cards and complete the collection now would probably be the time to buy at least the 21 that are currently available. I would imagine those prices sky rocket once Tatis Jr. is released and that in fact is all that is required to get him.

Why is it a foregone conclusion that the card is going to be Tatis? He is having an amazing month... but so are a couple others including Trevor Bauer. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they go with Bauer.

Also why do we think it’s a collection and not a program like the first 4 players of the month? This isn’t sarcasm is a genuine question? People are talking about needing 24 cards but isn’t that for the trout turn in? That included ALL of the players of the month cards available from every program up to this point. I thought that Topps now had its own category? I could be wrong... so now I’ll have to log in and check.

Yeah man log in and check it out. I'm not on my PS4 anymore so can't double check but if you go into the collections you can see the topps now and POTM collection for the lightning card, like others have mentioned. As far as why Tatis?.....well......Bauer and maybe a couple others like you said are having good months for sure, but nobody is as exciting as Tatis to watch right now. I love watching good pitchers like Bauer do their thing but Tati deserves it just about as much as anyone ever has for all he brings to the table.

that's because there's already a Monthly Award collection voucher for Trout. I made that same assumption as you before

There might be a program, but it might not be the exact same as the previous. The reason as to why would be that there was no baseball for April, May, June and July to have the standard POTM packs so they released programs instead.
I can't say for sure if this was always their plan or if this was a change made once they knew baseball wasn't going live for a few months.
But there is a collection for Topps Now that says collect July + Aug Topps now for POTM.
You only need like 15 or something for Trout.

Yeah, 2 shutouts, i can see him getting a card, but yeah no doubt won't be the lightning.
