User error going on here. Sure he is no Orel, but he isnt trash. Like someone said, his sinker isnt the spam high type, pitch like he did, use horizontal movement to paint corners, change speeds, get your opponent so focuses on offspeed low you sneak 4 seam high right by.
No he’s better than Orel, and if you think Orel is better go ahead spam those high sinkers to me and see what happens with them. Smh at the most stupid garbage you read in these forums
Oh god no, i dont spam any pitch. But i can do all the same things with Orel that i can with Maddux, but you can throw the sinker anywhere with Orel, you cant throw it high with Maddux, so you can actually work off the FB with Orel, where you have to pitch backwards with Maddux. Fo that reason i have more success with Orel than with Maddux. If you say he is better, you are in the minority in that OPINION
The point I’m making is that it completely subjective. Orel doesn’t have a 4 seamer for his 98 FOTF card so his pitch mix is limited. You can literally sit on the sinker and adjust to everything else. Maddux has the 4 seamer and a cutter to compliment his sinker. His peripherals are better as well (break, speed differences, and several others). And most people haven’t unlocked Maddux prestige which is going to give him a bump in all cats. So while it’s a subjective argument my opinion is based on the aspects which are not subjective and those are his overall attributes. On top of all that Maddux tunnels pitches better than anybody in the game which makes his pitch mix that much more effective. I know I can read every pitch out Orel’s hand. But I also am big on reading release points too. If a pitcher can tunnel his pitches you’re going to give me problems.
Yes, it is subjective, hence my word opinion.
I use Orel's sinker the same as a 4 seam and blow it by guys. As a batter high sinkers are not as effective on me as they are others, because i drop my PCI all the time, so i end up crushing them. I have faced people who are the same way. But most people see high think 4 seam and end up on top of sinker. But i dont use Orel's sinker to drop into the zone, because he doesn't have a 4 seamer. I use his sinker for the lateral movement, so my opponent has to worry about if it is a cutter or a sinker, so left or right. Maddux sinker is slower and drops more than orels, so it is easier to pick up the difference. I also hit Maddux better, but my weakness is more about trying to catch up to heat.
Both pitchers are extremely effective if used correctly and i have a lot of success with both, i have more with Orel. I also have more success with FotF Smoltz than many and Burnett more than Wood.
Its like i always say as bad as card recommendations are for hitters, because some cards hit differently for different people, pitchers are even worse, because if you know how to pitch, you can have success with about any card. And if you run into the right player you can have no success with any card.

Don't argue with him, he loves picking fights with everyone then telling them to say they were wrong lol

Ahh, i see. I have a good way to handle that. I should have figured it out when he said subjective after i had already posted opinion in all caps

Quite honestly guys, some people can perform better with certain cards than others, be it pitching or hitting.
It all depends on if you and the card mesh well. Some people do well with Ortiz, I couldn't hit a center cut offspeed meatball.

Yep, in mean my favorite player of all time is Barry Larkin and he rips... for everyone except me. It is really the biggest disappointment for me this year. Yes i hate pitch speeds in RS and pitches ending up down the middle, but sucking with Larkin is just awful for me. I was able to hit with him on 18 when power was the only important attribute.

Boy am I glad I locked in this card.
0-10 with a 19.74 era in 10 Event games.
Well worth the 90K.
Don't sweat it. You're trying for strikeouts to prestige him, so you're pitching different than RS.
-
Curveball is a weapon. Didn't use it enough early on but that + Sinker + Cutter + CU is a great combo. 20 IP from Prestiging him. Been hit hard a few times but my view is those guys who hit him (and I mean 8ER in 2 Inn) would have crushed anyone I put out there...
-
SLOW slow slow and slower= SIT SIT SIT and sit 4 BOMBERS
-
I'm not sure how he plays on HOF, since I haven't played in a while and am starting back at AS, but in two starts Maddux has sick numbers at AS for me. 17 innings, 2 ER (2 run HR), and 26 K's. I haven't had any pitcher pick up 26 K's in two games. I was able to dot my pitches with him both games and keep guys off balance both games.
I also wouldn't use him in events much if I was trying to get a good idea what I thought about him or any pitcher for that matter. Just seems like pitchers don't pitch the same way in events that they do in RS. Stamina goes quicker and they seem to either get lit up quick make it an inning before getting removed since the games are so short.

tough to judge a card on AS, every pitcher is very hittable. Would love to see how you do with him on HOF+
