So last night, the San Diego Padres just hit a grand slam for the last four consecutive games. The first time this has been done in MLB history.

I haven't really thought much about Tatis Jr. in all this, my mind has been focused on the fact that there were three grand salamis in three games. While that is an incredible feat and I congratulate the Padres on their accomplishment (as the Tigers lose 9 games in a row), I can't help but attribute it to the juiced baseball.

Look at all the franchise HR records that were broken last year. The Mets and Royals broke theirs, for example. To me it just doesn't feel right; home runs and breaking records no longer feels as special.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these issues:

What do you think about the Padres' accomplishment?
Should Tatis Jr. apologize for breaking the unwritten rule?
And most of all, what are your thoughts on the juiced baseball and how it's affected the sport?
Do you think they will un-juice the baseball once the HRs get old?

There have always been things in the past that have changed to help the offensive numbers (lowering the mound) so I still look at all the numbers as legit. I don't love the idea of the ball being juiced but it can't really be argued that its not so at this point we just have to accept it.

Also to answer the question about whether Tatis should have had to apologize? My answer is absolutely not.

It's actually 4 games now. For your questions:

    1. It's pretty cool in the moment and in the story of the season, but will prob be largely insignificant in the bigger history other than a footnote mentioned here and there (like the record of HRs in 8 consecutive games by Dale Long, Mattingly, and Griffey Jr)

    2. Nah, the game will police itself if other players think he was wrong.

    3. The power game right now is a phase I think. Teams are always trying to gain an advantage on what others are doing and different swings, etc. The uppercut swing is effective now, but if pitching analysis with spin rates, etc exploits it enough (already seeing pitchers going high in the zone to counter), it could change again. Just speculation, of course, but there are so many "eras" in baseball that while high power numbers may not go away, some small ball strategies could return.

I hope Tatis and Profar keep doing the crying face celebration. And maybe next time they’re 3-0 in the 7th inning with a lead just put the bat down and hold the pitchers hand while he tries to throw a strike.

, I do t want to move the runner over because I want the HR or rbi for myself.

Padre[censored]ting grand slams in 4 straight is a cool accomplishment. Tatis - if you throw a good pitch that get[censored] out that's on you, that's a stupid "unwritten rule". Don't throw a meatball idiot. For the juiced baseball, sadly nowadays someone like Rickey Henderson would be frowned upon, I miss the stolen base and " small ball" as they call it. It was just more exciting knowing the guy could run at any time and put pressure on the pitcher, defense, catcher etc. Now it's basically HR, strikeout or nothing. I'm kinda tired of it already, HR's are cool but it just seems the best for the team mentally has disappeared

In baseball u play to win till last out is made! 7 run lead is nothing in today's game cause walks and homers being up!! Charlie Manuel teached his players that the 3-0 pitch is best in baseball cause pitchers will throw get me over fastballs in that count!! There is nothing wrong swinging 3-0! I've played baseball my whole life never heard of no unwritten 3-0 rule! Me personally though I never swing 3-0! I take the pitch all the time! Wait to swing 3-1 ! But thats just me! And I hate walking in baseball. I love to swing the bat!! What tatis did was play the game right! Padres blew a 10 run lead last year! His coach saying what he said that's 1000% wrong! Snd anyone that thinks there was any issue with what tatis did is a complete idiot and likes losing !

Wow wake up and realize its a sport! Play hard and have fun! And play till the 27 out is made!
