The best part of 18’s stat grind was using cards from different series to acquire stats. The worst part of 18’s stat grind was having to use specific cards to get a stat...looking at you Joe Torre.
The only redeeming value of 17’s stat grind was that you were forced to play some of your Vs. CPU games outside of Rookie...win x games against the cheating Astros on All-Star.
The best part of ‘16’s grind was that you collected your stats and earned rewards by reaching milestones naturally.
The downside to 19’s moments grind were the RTTS elements. Get 2 assists in RF with with no balls being hit to RF. Record 3 steals when there is always a runner at 2b.
If only SDS could combine all of the positives and drop some of the negatives.

Hopefully they get rid of all offline grinds for DD. If your scared to play online do franchise.
It always puzzles me with these type of posts and the other end of the spectrum that turn their nose at DD and those that play it Like, guys there is a middle ground.
It's a troll post, #1 who is scared to play online? #2 Franchise is nothing like DD so not sure how that is a substitute. #3 SDS largely ignores franchise so clearly they want us to play DD.
I dont play online because I hate people, people with [censored] poor attitudes, basically guys like this troll. Here on the forums I can block him, but you can block people all you want on PSN and still get matched up with them.
Not trying to start anything but what do you mean by people with poor attitudes? Like how they play the game?
Cheese players exploiting every AI issue, then getting messages from people who when I get lucky and win a game and told I am a terrible player who should have lost and only won because I had all immortals. And with messages off they send a friend request with their toxic message. I can go on and on, I know you all love H2H, but you guys take winning and losing too seriously like it's the end of the world to take a loss. So I don't play, it's not worth it. Yes it's not every game. And if there wasnt cheesers or bad attitude guys I'd probably feel different. but I am also not buying a monitor to gain an advantage either. Oh and let's not even talk about lead offs.
Nah your scared. And that many bad games means your the problem clown. 18 grind again gtfoh

Then we have you on the other hand...

The worst part of playing online is people are trying to win more than trying to play the game like it's a baseball game. Throwing slow pitches above the zone or high is the most prevalent but almost nothing is as bad as somebody who is representing how the game, constantly doing base running cheese all the time.

It honestly bums me out that other people have spoiled your desire to play H2H. There are some pretty horrible people in the world when it comes to sending vitriol. If its any consolation, you see it less and less as you move up the rankings. There are always going to be players who go out of their way to use exploits to win (high sinkers, baserunning bs, etc.)
Playing solid, well-played, respectable H2H games is one of my favorite experiences, win or lose. And it's a bummer that the toxicity of people ruin that experience for others. I play themed friendlies and they're a lot of fun. If you ever want a clean friendly game against a person, I'm down. Maybe joining a custom league with some decent, non-cheesy people in 20 will help restore your faith in H2H.
TL;DR - I totally get where you're coming from.

Was going to suggest the same. Custom leagues is definitely a step in this direction. Good honest people will form good honest leagues. Very excited about this.
Of course there will be the riff raff but you’ll get to know who to stick with.

Amen to that and NFL Man - we have a solid league of guys if you want in let me know i will speak to the gang and find out spots availability our draft is on the 8th of march

Custom leagues will hopefully be great but, from the screenshots I've seen so far, it looks like it will either be real live rosters or your DD team (with overall restrictions if so chosen). Meaning you will still need to build up your team, you can't just play with whatever cards you want.

you can always do a live series draft + whatever group rules before the season starts too - this is what we are doing its a solid strategy

What I meant was that if a new card comes out, you will have to earn/buy that card in DD in order to use it in your league. AKA it doesn't work like some people who thought they could "ignore" DD and only play online via custom leagues unless they "play the market" etc. If you want to play with that 12-0 card in your league, you will have to either go 12-0 or get enough stubs to buy that card.

you are right for sure......
great point. this is why i let the other guys handle the rules and technicals......
right now we have shifted our discussions a bit to see if we just do 1 MLB team per player in the league

In my opinion the grind was just playing the game, you got XP and stubs for whatever mode you played in and I liked that!
I think using March to October for stat grinds makes sense.
Personally I found in 2018 you had to make a decision to either play the game or grind first inning on coors and I just didn’t find that to be fun. I would prefer to play the game vs the computer rather then get 3 doubles with a silver 2b in a game.
If they added stat grinds such as innings pitched in any mode or games played in okay with that.
Also moments are just glorified stat grinds really, take player X do task with said player. The grinds were there people just didn’t do them since there was better/ different ways to rank up and get rewards

There is absolutely no doubt that the top of the 1st at Coors grind was terrible and I and I suspect most every one else would agree that we do not want that back.
As long as it is not "you must accumulate online" like 17 was for Griffey, then I will be happy, I am not going to cry about offline guys not having enough to do. If I dont have enjoyment playing with my favorite cards in vs CPU or conquest, then why am I playing.
Side note I actually like conquest and because of the stupid stat grinds of 18 I didnt get to play it as much as I did 17. Also I did not buy 19 so I have no experience in what it was like. But didnt sound bad to me. Not to be a broken record. I just want to have an opportunity to get the cards I want without having to play online. Just as online guys don't want to have to play offline.

Conquest was pretty good in 19, it def was a step "down" in difficulty, but there were so many maps, it kept you engaged most of the year doing the new maps that came out.
