Please don’t use him

He might get you wins in Events because we don't have time for that. If the pitcher stamina "fix" didn't happen I would consider carrying him to counter the toxic players who step off the mound 40 times and run the pause timer down.

I dig him. He will drive your opponents crazy with his windup.
I was shutting him out 1-0 going into the 4th with about 8 ks, and than he requests a friendly quit which I decline.
Than he starts bunt dancing during every pitch, pausing, etc.... so since he decided to act like a child, I brought my 9 year old “child” in to hit for me as he can flat out rake ( not a greAt pitcher )...
I told him to bunt dance, hit a homer, than watch it, which he did on second batter and there came the dashboard
So if you use Johnson, be prepared for the nonsense from your opponent who will hate him.

All the complaining about the Big Trains windup, yet I've never heard anyone say anything about the long windups of some modern day players, like Sonny Gray.

His windup really isnt bad from a batters perspective. He does the 2 circle thing with his arm like Babe Ruth does. But after that he has a regular windup. But if you are pitching with him the meter starts with the 2 circle thing. Which is kinda silly I think.

First 2 games I used him, he couldn't be touched. Had double digit strikeouts and 7+ shutout innings in both outings. But I felt like the opponent wasn't that great at hitting either and had a hard time catching up to the fastball. I was able to get away with numerous pitches that were "forced over the middle of the plate."
His 3rd outing, he got lit up. I was in 700's in RS and what seemed like every pitch that was "forced over the middle of the plate" got tattooed for a homerun, and it didn't matter what type of pitch it was either. Dropped from 700's to 500's just like that.
I believe it just comes down to how good your opponent is at hitting that decides how well or poorly your pitcher will perform. And it doesn't matter if it's Walter Johnson, Bob Feller, Ryan, etc. What I mean by that is, the guy that lit up Walter Johnson was very good at taking advantage of those pitches over the middle of the plate; whereas, myself, I'm able to take advantage of the forced pitches at times, but not nearly on the level of these other guys, as I have a bad habit of touching the pci stick to aim when swinging. That's what separates WS players from the rest of the pack.
If you're using him in anything other than RS, I'm sure he's a beast. But once you climb divisions in RS, there are players who will show you quickly that he could also be a bust.

What the guy above said. Is spot on.....doesn’t matter who you use on the mound, when you run into one of those elite players on AS or HOF, they will make. most pitchers look like garbage....

Totally agree! Grey and Beuhler both have longer windups then Johnson. I would argue Klubers windup takes about as much time as well. I think the slow windups are better as the hitter will be more impatient.

This is just me speaking from my perspective but I love those long windups as a hitter in ranked, I want all the time I can get between pitches to situate and think about sequences. Events now that’s another story

Umm there was a Topps Now moment with Gray requiring strikeouts. I did intentional walks to get him pitching from the stretch.
