Please Allow Guess Pitch in RS

Guess Pitch without feedback wouldn't be terrible, you don't know you guessed right but your timing window and PCI will get a little bigger (and vice versa when wrong.) I don't hate that at all.
-
No thanks

Man you had to know the backlash you were going to get for even suggesting this!!

I know it’s going to be a fastball up and in. You’ve been spamming that pitch all game yet I still can’t get around it. While we are it, being back injuries for diving back to first, prevent that lead off BS. Seems like there is almost no recourse for this actions.
The floating pitches down the pipe for no reason aren't little Billy enough for you?

There are definitely elements of this game I wish would come over to the show, mainly the fun as hell training modes and manager ejections

I’m the first to admit RS ain’t what it used to be, but “guess pitch” is def NOT the answer!

So because you can't hit it, you want the game to bail you out? Do the work for you? I've seen some hilarious stuff around here, but you sir take the prize.
How is this any diifferent from someone spamming up and in 100 times a game because timing windows are off, or because most people don’t have the equipment or internet to get around on it. Isn’t this bailing out a bad pitcher?
Yes I am upset because I cannot hit. There are certain aspects of this game that are out of balance this year and I am offering a suggestion to restore that balance. Nice of you to dismiss my idea out of hand instead of looking at it from another perspective, and offering some helpful feedback.
Here's some helpful feedback; go into custom practice and practice until you can hit it like the rest of us. In the meantime I have zero empathy for your cries about this 100% non-issue.
And you are the authority on what is an issue and what isn’t? LMAO. And you are crying about someone crying
No I'm not, but you're asking for cookies when everyone else had to spend hours and hours and hours to craft their skill in this game. And here you are asking for guess pitch because you can't hit an up and in fastball. This game has issues for sure, I'm not denying that. But you sucking at this game is a you problem friend.
“I've been keeping my opinion to myself ever since the game launched, because I didn't dive into the online game modes right away. I usually grind some of the offline stuff first to build a somewhat decent team and that's exactly what I did. That meant I couldn't really give an objective opinion on the game since I didn't play online enough yet and for most of us this game centers around the online game modes.
Let me start of by saying that even though I consider myself an upper tier/elite player, this opinion is mine and mine alone. My opinion is not weighing heavier than any offline player or the more casual type of player whatsoever. You do not have to agree with anything I say, but I do ask you to respect my opinion as I will respect yours.
I can describe this game in an online environment in its current state as following:
I can not pitch.
I can not field.
I can not hit.
And yet somehow I can still win.I throw so many meatballs and I can't control a single pitcher. Good releases sometimes lead to hangers down the middle. Horrible releases sometimes result in absolute dots on the black. Every pitch feels like spinning the wheel of fortune, I'm just lost when it comes to pitching, honestly.
When it comes to fielding, the obvious issue of outfielders not locking onto flyballs is a problem. I'm sure that will be fixed at some point. What annoys me way more is when the ball gets down and bounces off the wall, your outfielder is literally lost. There is no urgency to pick it up or throw it away quickly, you actually run past it often. Singles turn into doubles and doubles turn into triples because of this.
And the hitting.. I don't even know where to start. I struggle hitting fastballs, while I've always been a really good fastball hitter. Now I have to gamble and as a result that gets me out in front of almost every offspeed pitch. It only takes 1 inning for my opponent to figure this out. The funny thing is that an inning later I can be out in front on fastballs while I'm pretty certain that my reaction time is the same as before. It just feels off and inconsistent, I don't understand it.
I also tend to get under the ball a whole lot, while I'm not even slamming the PCI down. In my screen I align the ball in the middle of the PCI, yet the feedback says I got under it too much resulting in a good/okay flyout. This happens to me way too often.
The perfect/perfect idea is great. In reality only the perfect/perfect flyballs with power guys do real damage. I've lined out on perfect/perfect liners more often than not and perfect/perfect grounders are usually just groundouts or even double plays. You'd expect the perfect input would make you find the infield hole, which sometimes happens but not nearly enough. All and all I'm just really disappointed more than anything. I was really hoping that we could leave 18 and 19 behind us and start moving in the right direction again, like a tweaked hybrid of 16+17 where the flaws of those games were fixed. But that's clearly not their vision for this franchise moving forward unfortunately.
For now I'll keep playing casually instead of competitively, hoping that future patches will resolve some of the stuff I mentioned, but I'm kinda pessimistic about it. Sorry. I usually quit playing ranked around Christmas, this year that might be a lot sooner.”
This was your post from earlier this year. Looks like you were in the same boat as me, at least at one time. Are you allowed to complain yet other people aren’t? You need at least respect other people’s opinions, even if you do not agree with them
If you think I’m not only gonna care, much less read all of that, guessing about why you can’t hit a up and in fastball (lmao) then you are wrong

So let’s switch up the idea. If guess pitch is so unpopular, maybe have a more substantial penalty for spamming a certain pitch/location?
If I, as a pitcher, find a weakness in my opponent, I should not be penalized for doing so.
How much of the weakness is mine, and how much of it is timing windows? Probably a lot of both, but I do think this game has devolved into 102mph fastballs up and in because the current state of the game makes it extremely difficult to get around on.
The timing windows are consistent. It’s literally your own fault you can’t hit it. Just admit that and move on
-
When I play someone who's better than me, going up and in usually results in the ball getting sent into another zip code. I suck at hitting those pitches too, but it's apparently not as impossible as the OP seems to think. Git gud!
-
No on 1, yes on 2.

Welcome to the world of good internet vs not so good internet. It is hands down the #1 problem with this game. My first inning of hitting usually consists of me taking a lot of pitches and seeing whether 95 looks like 85 or 110. If it looks like 85, the game will usually be over in less than 3 innings. If it looks like 110, I know the non-stop meatball pitches are coming. If both of these happen in the first inning, a lot of times I will just dc because I have better things to do than throw hr derby.
Guess pitch is not the answer and would only make this scenario worse than it already is. Your only saving grace on bad connection games (which happen all the time) is if the player can't recognize pitches and you can keep them off balance with hard and soft stuff. If not, you are going to lose badly. You will not be able to out hit your opponent hitting balls on the corners compared to the meatballs he sees down the middle. Allowing them to guess either hard or soft would be a nightmare as you couldn't keep them off balance which is the only thing that could keep you in the game.

I don't really have an opinion on it either way. I just don't really get why it's such blasphemy to even suggest that "guess pitch" should be an option on RS. For starters, guessing the pitch right is one thing, but they still have to be able to time it and hit it. Also, if you mix your pitches enough, they probably aren't going to guess the pitch that often anyhow. If your spamming the same pitch over and over and they guess and hit it, isn't that your fault?
-
Wow that’s a terrible idea. Let’s give a bad player a crutch because they can’t seem to catch up to a fastball up and in. And to everyone complaining about timing windows ands pitching problems, if these were actually problems how do people in this game have batting averages over .300? I do. Or how do people have pitching staffs that have sub 4 era’s? I do again. I don’t get it. I don’t consider myself a great player but I certainly don’t blame others or the game for my inability to do something in a game. I have occasional slumps where it seems that I just can’t hit and you know what I do? I go outside and live my real life. Because it’s a flipping video game. Hearing people complain about swing animations and the engine because they can’t hit a fastball when they’re playing on a flat screen 55” television is laughable. Just stop it, it has nothing to do with the timing window it’s your [censored] television. If you want a better gaming experience get a monitor. Rant over
