I decided to work the program backwards.
I took on the HOF games first sincE I had more time over the weekend.
The games were fun and sometimes challenging. Newhouser gave me fits, it seemed like his fastball had some extra "giddy up" on them. For those of you that have done the HOF challenges who were the toughest hitters you faced?
Mine were:- Gary Carter - Gave me fits, actually tied up a game for the NL East when I missed my spot on a Wagner slider. Besides that he was always getting on.
- Vlad - everything he hit was hard.
3. The opposing starting pitcher - anyone of them- sometimes it seemed like the opposing pitcher was the other teams best hitter. I even had Newhouser hit a game winning single off Gagne in the NL Central game.
I mentioned this earlier. This always seems to be the case no matter what difficulty you play on. The opposing pitcher can be the toughest out on the team.

I remember you wrote that. At first I thought no way, but after playing I have to agree with you.
As Newhouser's game winning single landed in the outfield, I just shook my head and thought of what you wrote. -
Vlad. I feel like every time I got him 0-2 he would rip a pitch out of thr zone for a double or a homer. Vlad being Vlad

#3 is how I knew how the game was going to go. Still in the game in the sixth inning with me up by a run the NL West kept Dustin May in the game to hit. It didn't make any sense. Then he hit a dinger down the line and I realized that I was the stupid one. If I was having success getting the pitchers to miss then I would win.
-
Dante Bichette killed me with a couple of dongs on sinkers low and inside.
Greg Effing Maddux almost went yard on me too.

What I did like was that if you made a mistake pitching the CPU would punish you.
That made the games fun and when I would miss my spot you have that moment of dread.I just went with hard throwers the whole way. The CPU did a good job of alternating L - R hitters, so I rarely played matchups unless there were 2 outs.
I would usually roll out of the pen:
Wagner
Gagne (gave me a heart attack every time)
Britton
Bettances
Hader -

I have literally lost twice now because of pitcher ground rule doubles on a changeup that is an inch above the dirt...miraculous...

I threw ZERO change ups to the CPU.
The Change up has a propensity to hang even with perfect releases.
I just threw Fastballs, cutters, sliders, curveballs and the occasional sinker. -

HRD Ripken... Has 3 HR against me with 1 of them coming on the 6th to tie the game. No issues when it comes to the pitchers, but my heart dropped when Maddux crushed it and was barely a foul ball.
I played the All Time team and Papi crushed a perfect -perfect flyball off of Paxton ( I was up 1 in the 8th).
My heart sank, but the park we were playing in (Sportsman, I think?) was so big to center field that I ended up making a routine catch. So I will never complain about RNG and perfect perfects not leaving the park anymore. It happens to the CPU as well!!
-
Vlad Sr. seemed to get me a lot.
now the most annoying player faced in entire run was Mike Scott ... dude never throws strikes ... he had like 120 pitches in the 5th inning.

I'm going to test this more now. Vs the nl east I knocked out Smoltz after going up 6-0 in the 1st. Just finished the 3rd and Nolan Ryan gets a very early standing double and then it's back to back hrs after. So let's see if I can finish this with 3 to go
-
Ortiz - hits everything I throw for a homerun.
Walker - something about his swing he can reach pitches others can't so I really have to think when he's up. -

Won it 7-5. The cool thing about being the away team is that you can easily restart if you don't score in the 1st

I had the same problems with Hal last night while finishing up the HOF ones. Finally won 1-0.

I did the exact same thing. Normally, I start at the beginning and work to the end. In this case, it made more sense to me to start on the hard stuff and work backwards.
That said... VLAD. I threw one pitch 6 inches over the top of the strike zone and he blasted it out. Also, I couldn't strike out an opposing pitcher. But... I did have a 2-run double with Catfish.

I gave up a 2 run 2B to him on a 99mph fastball in on the hands. I dont know where they came up with the idea to make CPU pitchers overpowered as hitters, but it is pretty stupid.

Not sure how these were so difficult for so many people. I finished the program in 2 days and won every game without incident first time. Even the HOF 6 inning games and all time squad 9 inning game were a breeze. I think I won the 9 inning game 8-3 and was down 3-0 after the first. It was tied by the 3rd and put out of reach in the 6th with a four run inning. After that it was AS games against barely serviceable rosters when you compare them to DD squad that was being run out there. I can’t even remember a divisional team that scored more than 1 run and that run usually happened in the 3rd. Although I did have 2 go to extras. Just saying
