Nate Pearson Outlier
-
Nate Pearson was throwing 100 in spring training with ease. He is one person that deserves the outlier. Ever think maybe Toronto management told him to tune it down for better control? Kinda like what yankees did with joba chamberlain? He was throwing heat out of the BP than when they made him into a starter he was averaging 95.

I’m watching this guy pitch tonight and he’s topping out at 96, lots of 94 mph fastballs. Can we not do these fantasy prospect flamethrowers going forward?
Watch his game before this one.. was 99 100 most fastballs

Striking out two batters with 99.2 and 98.6 mph Fastballs tonight...

So because he's topping out at 96 and 94 on this one start, we should not care/ignore that he does throw 100 normally?
The outlier quirk is flawed. You shouldn't be able to hit 100-102 every single time you throw the pitch. The guy would not have an arm left. It should be related to confidence or stamina.

Absolutely agree with that.

Maybe moving forward, outlier should be limited to RP/CP, and they come up with some other type of quirk for SPs?
Maybe something that could go along with pitching clutch and the workhorse quirk. Something like Verlander touching 98-99 in the 9th inning back when he was with Detroit (idk if he still brings it like that late in the game present day)
I see it from both sides, tho.

Well Chapman hits 100-102 MPH pitch after pitch in real life so he's obviously the exception to the rule. I realize big difference between RP/CP and SP.

Severino routinely hit 100 same as Thor as a sp

So, you think it should be, say.... an outlier lol?

Agreed. If they're gonna do that with outlier, guys like Maddux need a perk where he 100% hits is spots everytime.

He can hit 100 with ease when he wants. He's trying to be a pitcher, not a thrower. Same as Verlander when he was younger and unhittable, he's would throw 95-97 then ramp it up to 100 when needed.
-
uhh when I owned Pearson he hit 102 in the first 4 innings easily....

I like the SP idea. One that gives some pitchers the ability to get stronger as the game goes on.
