My Prestige Maddux would like to teach you things

Maddux is great if you know how to pitch in this game.
And gtfo with all this “Maddox” stuff.
-
I had control issues with him too. I’m old and remember watching him. He was the most accurate pitcher I’ve ever seen pitch in my life. They could have at least gave him that. I sold him. First inning I won’t have all three bosses locked. I don’t even have one from this inning.
I figured, even if next inning is fire, it’s not worth the 260k three bosses will cost locked just to get the reward. I can probably buy two of the next inning bosses for that.
-
I gotta defend his control, I just threw 8 1/3 with him on all star, hung like 3-5 pitches all game. That’s outstanding for The Show 20. I can do be corners with him like nobody else- the only pitch that’s questionable sometimes is the change.
-
I'm a few innings from prestige already, he's an absolute monster. I've pitched two perfect games in the 680's, on All-Star. He just gets better as you move into HOF.
But, you have to know how to pitch in order to have success with him. If you're the guy that spams high fastballs, you'll either learn how to use him and get better at the game, or you'll sell him after two starts.

His sinker’s not that good, his off-speed isn’t very effective, he doesn’t have a good strikeout pitch, and worst of all, he has terrible command. Can’t dot a fastball when it matters most and hangs way too many well-released changeups. Guess I’ll be selling. Big disappointment for me.
It’s really sad that glitchy deliveries/upper-nineties fastballs (preferably cutters and sinkers) are the only ways a pitcher can be successful in this game. Maddux was incredible in real life but doesn’t translate well because his motion is easy to pick up and he doesn’t throw hard.
I've heard the opposite 99% of the time about his command... but yeah when I face him I am not nearly as intimidated as I would be against someone who throws harder.. If the pitcher doesn't have a 94+ sinker then they are hard to be successful with/easy to hit off of.. annoying part of the game
Nasty Nate wants a word

Well I got a win with 97 May & was doing well through 4. In the 5th inning all the sudden he couldnt find the plate & what was working wasn't. He had a 28 pitch 5th, so he had to come out after 6. My opponent was starting to make good pitch contact & I didn't want to chance it.
98 Orel I will not use again. I know he's good, but I get way to frustrated using him. Atleast in my case he doesn't have that "out pitch" that I can use after setting my opponent up with the breaking stuff.
The jury on 99 Maddux is still out as I wanted to see what 99 Hal could do since many people said he was very hitable. Had some issues early on, but settled down with him, found a very nice pace with Hal & had a great game.

I couldn't disagree more with you here.
Honestly, I pitch better with Maddux than I do any other starter in this game. I can use every one of his pitches effectively, I'm not sure I've ever been able to say that about any other pitcher. Even with Kershaw last year, I'd always hang his changeup whenever I threw it and I've got to be cautious with Kluber's cutter for the same reason.

Y'all must be playing under HOF difficulty. I've pitched a 1 run CG (HOF) and a 7 inning 2 run game (Legend) with Maddux in the two games I've used him. His control is amazing (analog), his movement is disgusting, and you'll freeze people consistently if you pitch properly with him instead of trying to spam an 89 mph sinker up in the zone.
10/10 would definitely recommend Maddux to anybody that consistently plays above AS.
Exactly.
He's so fun to use too because I feel like I can actually sequence with him -- like I have my opponent in control and can basically get him to do what I want them to do.
I didn't think I'd like him as much as I do but he has been so [censored] good.
I'm so excited to use Kershaw and Sale when I'm able to add them to my rotation. I already know my end-game rotation will be Maddux, SS/Prime Kershaw, Kluber, SS Chris Sale, and likely Orel Hershiser or Tom Seaver.

My first game with Maddux, and he throws a Maddux. If you know how to pitch, this is a great card to have. If you just throw him randomly, or try to spam sinkers up, he’s going to get rocked.

This. You can’t take reviews from people who don’t play in the higher levels. Not a shot at anyone. But it’s BP with any pitcher below 700.

Thanks for the heads up. Never thought about it that way before.

That is what happens when the game becomes about hitting. Pitching gets worst every year. It started in the show 18
I'd argue pitching is a tiny bit better because in 18 there were little strikeouts, where on HoF there are a good amount this year.
But yeah in general, it's not great.
Going from 17 to 18 was bad, then got worst with 19 and not looking forward to how bad it will be in 21.
Oh, it's going to be bad. They still won't touch the main problem with this game which is connections by far. Then you have all the Xbox players coming. If there is a cheat in the game, Xbox players will find it. Xbox players are pitiful in general.

I put up 7 runs on him in 4 innings yesterday..

That's what I'm finding out with 98 Hershiser. I need to pitch with him more to find out what does & doesn't work.
