I know I’ve recently posted about this but this can’t be random. I have been the away team in 22 of my last 24 head to head games. This is a separate count of the one I posted about earlier. Do you all experience similar streaks? Is the determinant random, or does the server actually look for something when determining who is home and who is away?

How many times has your opponent backed out at the lineup screen and what level are you playing at? Higher level players refuse to play anywhere other than home at shippett

None. Something else is happening. Does this seem abnormal?

I would love to get some feedback on this from someone that might know how matchmaking works. I found a similar question from a five year old Mlb the show reddit post. Someone said the person with the worst connection is usually the away team. I have a wired 300mbps connection, so this made no sense. Then I did some research on something called buffer bloat, which is something that happens on your network and causes your internet to slow down. Apparently, you can go into your router and prioritize certain connections, but I’m afraid I’d mess something up and my house would burn down. Anyway, is there anybody here who maybe works with somebody who might know how home and away is determined? Maybe server connection stuff isn’t your department per se, but maybe your company has somebody who might know something.

I usually get home team, and I have a very low rating. I don't even try, only try to get my missions. Maybe the lowest rating always is home and you have a good rating?

Also, this is just a guess, but I was just trying to get 9 IP with Brady Singer to complete my George Brett. Computer gave me home team in each game (3 inning Event). Almost like they knew what I needed and that I needed to be home to get all three innings.

Who even knows. I actually switched to wireless from wired because I’m afraid of something called buffer bloat, and I’m wondering if my modem is prioritizing wireless connections over wired and making my connection speed slower than one would think. . It seems counter intuitive, but I will say the times I’m home as compared to away is much more balanced since the switch.

@vagimon people can tell if they are home or away in the pitcher choice screen and back out. As you stated being home is a lot more balanced so a lot of people refuse to play on the road, plus whatever comeback code or momentum logic that’s in the game is a lot easier to deal with when you have the last ABs

This is true, but in that streak of away games, I wasn’t experiencing backouts. The matchmaking system just kept making me the away team for whatever reason.

@vagimon did you experience server closed game or whatever it is after you get the opponent found message? Sometimes people get to the choosing screen before you do and immediately back out and it looks like it was server issue. With that streak it could just be the odds you got burned on, although that’s extremely unlikely, but then again getting a perfect perfect flyball with a guy with over 100 power dying at the warning track is supposed to be extremely unlikely too, yet.... lol

I know it seems crazy. No server closed session. No opponents backing out on the pitcher select screen. It would be really nice to know how the server selects home and away. I mentioned earlier in the post that I read someone say the person with the better connection was home, but who knows.
