Josh Gibson
Let's stick with players whose stats were accurately tracked, and not "Oh he for sure hit 17.8 million trillion home runs against babe ruth in war torn New Jersey
I think this is the second time you’ve hopped into a thread to discredit josh Gibson ...
That's because I'm a Cool Papa Bell stan. Also, because Gibson's mythos is so comically inflated he makes Brendan Fraser's Character from "The Scout" look like Ryan Doumit
If you’re trying to tell me it’s not possible for a guy to throw an 81-pitch, 27-strike out perfect game in his very first professional outing, then, sir, I don’t believe I wish to live in this world anymore.
EDIT: throwing nothing but fastballs, too
Don’t forget the HRs he hit while batting as the DH. Ohtani has nothing on him!
Oh jeez I forgot about that. I love baseball so much that I can even enjoy a bad baseball movie... but The Scout was absolutely unwatchable lol.

I’m happy about it , would have been cool to be a new guy but Trout deserves one of the best cards in the game.
I now have Prestige Walker in RF, Prestige Mantle , and new Trout in LF. Took advantage of market last week and now sit at 3.1M stubs that should get me by the rest of the year as I have everyone I want at the moment.
Not too much to gripe about.

I'm glad it's not another dirty Yankee but another position would have been nice.
You smell real bad

this isn't even a top 10 card in this years game.

this isn't even close to one of the best.

Right, because the future stars rating are based on actually stats and not assumptions...
When I think of Future Stars, I certainly think of "Babe Ruth, but actually better in every way", which is the common boomer armchair expert analysis of Gibson. Meanwhile we could realistically get Satchel Paige, but nobody wants a pitcher with a 15 second windup
Why do you hate Josh Gibson? No body is saying he is the best player who ever played. Just that a new Power hitting catcher would have been cool!
I don't hate Gibson, I hate the cult that spreads his gospel of greatness and perfection. And on top of that there are far more interesting players from the period that could be put in. Heck, I'm the kind of person that would love to see players from all sorts of leagues. Having Cool Papa Bell, Roy Campanella, Sadaharu Oh, Shigeo Nagashima etc. Compared to those guys, Gibson comes off as a boring Pepe Alazar
Lol “greatness and perfection”??? If you ask and baseball fan to name two facts about Gibson it’ll be “hit lots of homers, drank himself to death.”
There is no cult of Gibson. He was perhaps one of the best power hitting catchers in baseball history, though. I was a catcher back in my playing days so I have a fondness for all backstops, but I’ve certainly never heard of anyone who espoused Gibson as anything more than what he was.
who? I can't think of one great catcher named gibson

I collected what I already had locked in for XP and stubs, but I have no interest in doing anything to get this otherwise. We had a 99 SS Trout last year as an inning boss, I already used the card. If I want to use him, I still have the disc of 19. No thanks.

It’s funny because all the speculation and ‘reading the clues’ the Chase! The BIG - so people thinking Maybe Randy Johnson, McGwire etc... the LS Trout plays really well in RS for me, so I’m meh w the new Trout.. yah kinda disappointing...
I would’ve loved a Clemente, DiMaggio, or JOSH GIBSON! Considering it is the 100th anniversary of the Negro Leagues this year...

If this isnt the end, SDS could be including an infielder and pitcher. Honus & maybe a prime Max Scherzer?

Greg Gibson, the homeplate umpire, motioning to both players
