As an Orioles fan and watching A LOT of Orioles vs. Yankees Every time he robbed Ripken or any other Oriole of a hit, i can say after watching him for his whole career he was pretty good defensively I'v seen some of his plays in person at Camden yards...

    5 Gold Gloves
    Career Fielding PCT of .976

Most everyone here is a Derek Jeter hater because of his defense.
Any true baseball fan knows what his defense is like. It’s sad that’s the only bad thing that can be said about him. And people say it like they just found something out that nobody else knows
Also. Most good players, in life and game are horrible defensively.
I don’t see a bunch of cr*p being talked about those guys.
People are just jealous that their fan base never had a player as Incredible as Jeter or a better role model or team player.
People that complain about his defense anytime they hear the name Derek, probably didn’t have the pleasure of watching his career like some of us did.

I dislike Derek Jeter because we spell our name the same way. It's my name Jeter, not yours!

I view that as, you have the name of a king

My name will never quite live up to yours, buttmuncher.

Thanks a lot man. After all I do really love my username now that you mention it. 😂

Anybody who hits a .310avg over 20 years is pretty deserving of a lot of respect and accolades. I don’t like the Yankees and I can still recognize this. Hopefully he will get a good card in this game someday.

If you want a Jeter just use Michael Young... Virtually the same player except Jeter wore pinstripes.

    A. Gold Gloves are a media-voted award and are backed up by exactly zero metrics. Like Rafael Palmeiro before him, Jeter won Gold Gloves because of his bat and his name, NOT his glove.

    B. Average fielding % in the majors last year was .984. Jeter's career mark proves he was BELOW AVERAGE.

Thanks for playing. He's awful. And you proved it.

I am the biggest Yankee fan there is and I love Jeter. However that is the last card I would want as a collections reward. How can you justify giving a guy who’s never hit more than 25 HRs in a season above 80 power? He’d be a worse version of Jimmy Rollins in the game

We are talking about a Collection to lock in players, Why would anyone want to do that for a Jeter card. Some will do it just to do it other because they are yankee fans. Me that will be one I pass on.

Also, fielding % doesn't account for all the balls his limited mobility couldn't get to.

So what you’re saying is that Freddy Galvis, Mike Bordick, JJ Hardy, Cesar Izturis are all better the. Jeter... and your statistics are wrong .984 is the best fielding percentage at short. Ernie Banks at short stop is a career .9695 fielding pct, at shortstop and only short stop not the other positions he’s played. He’s also played 20 years at short opposed to a lot of shortstops like Ripken who moved over to 3rd in his 30s they’re a lot of players who played at short with lower percentages then Jeter who have diamond ratings at shortstop for example Ernie Banks, Barry Larkin (.9746)

    https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/fielding_perc_ss_career.shtml

Like I said he’s not the best shortstop EVER but he’s solid

Derek Jeter being in the game isn't an issue. The issue more lies with him being the Super Duper Secret Ultra Extreme Collect-a-Thon God King Reward. Honus set a bit of a precedent, that that reward was going to be pretty much godly at everything. And Jeter, while worthy of his inclusion in the Hall of Fame, and ranking near the top 10 of shortstops all time, was definitely lacking in speed and defense department. Also, He wasn't clutch, and the numbers prove it.
