COVID-19 outbreak

People who go out and eat at restaurants or go out in the streets for social justice movements seem to be fine. But when players who have been tested every other day for a month show a bunch of positive tests we blame it on them? Calling a major conspiracy on this one

Some politicians will scream for all sports to be shut down again, They don't want anyone to enjoy life so that we can blame all our misery on Trump resulting in his defeat in November. However, mass protests and rioting are encouraged.
LMFAOOOO boy if you think that.... youve got another thing coming. HAHA

Nah, it's not being cancelled. It would set a crazy precedent.
If it was, logically, they'd have to cancel every season once a player tested positive for the flu since the flu is much more dangerous to this population than COVID.
Sports are going to be fine, the leagues are just in this crazy position where they have to overreact due to the hyperbolic, politically-driven, science-denying crazies that infest social media. Why they care about what these creatures think, most of whom aren't even real people... there will be case studies written.
you are 1 million % INcorrect.

Specifically that you’re agreeing with the post that declares the flu more dangerous than Covid, and that the pandemic is media driven hyperbole.

Look at the numbers. even with the inflated COVID death #'s due to incorrect recording of deaths, the death rate per million is similar to the flu.
The main difference is that COVID is much more contagious than the flu.How can you honestly tell me that part of this is not media driven?
People can't got to church, the beach or the gym because it spreads the virus but protesting is OK?
Certain states reopen and it is nonstop coverage on how dangerous it is (FL & GA) but other states that reopen at the same time (CO) and the governor is praised as being so brave.
Don't get me started on the bleep show that NY was. Any other governor whose direct actions lead to so many deaths would be recalled.
The virus is not to be dismissed, but when the coverage is narrative or ideologically driven, it loses credibility in the eyes of many. -
As much as I love baseball, it's time to just call this whole thing off. What is the point really? If I'm a player, with this news today - I'm out.

Marlins Man is glad he bolted now I bet!

Not yet. We need to find out who is "patient Zero" for the Marlins.
Was it someone being irresponsible? Was he picking up wings at an adult establishment like Lou Williams was?We need to run this down and figure out where the break was.
The Marlins were not in Miami, they were in Atlanta for "Summer Camp" games against the Braves.
Did a Braves player get it or spread it to a Marlin and it spead from there?
Let's see what happens with Braves players and see what actions led to this outbreak with the Marlins. -

I shouldn't, but can't help myself...
People tend to look at this like you can isolate a healthy segment of society, like athletes, and it's okay because it's likely not going to affect them adversely even if they contract it. That may be true, but what about the poor saps in the hotels where these guys are staying? There are very likely others they come into contact with... What if someone's mom, or girlfriend, or brother contract it and have some comorbidity?
This is not some twisted plan to make sure no one is enjoying their life, nor is it a politically-driven conspiracy; believe it or not, some people think human life is more important than allowing others to have a good time, and instead of just accepting that some people will die because we want to watch baseball, they stop to consider that those statistics have families and loved ones. If even a few deaths can be prevented by being cautious, then we should be cautious.
I'm with ScaryLarito on this.
And ItsaCanesthing, no one's fragile ego is preventing them from accepting your opinion. Patience, a more mature outlook on life, and a better understanding of the situation is all it takes to disregard it.

And thank you! For those like me, that have a compromised immune system from taking chemo meds the past few years - people that want to go back to business as usual, they make me sad and angry.
I'm not expendable. And frankly, I've worked too [censored] hard to get this and possibly die all due to people not wanting to wear a mask and be careless in other ways. Right now, this outbreak is bigger than baseball. These are people's lives and family's. I have a friend I was college roommates with and he is an ER doctor at Mass. General. This isn't the flu by any stretch he said.
ItsaCanesthing, you are a prime example of those that believe these conspiracy theories. Tell me something though, since you called me out - why do think the U.S.A. is the only country that still is out of control?
I know I won't get a straight answer, since it won't fit your narrative, coward.

Why is the USA Spiking? It is simple. it is a combination of reopening, risky behavior and the protests.
Don't think the protests have played a HUGE role in this you are fooling yourself.Florida reopened for Memorial day and we had no spike for 8 weeks. What changed in the last 4 to 6 weeks? The protests. Those individuals were not practicing social distancing nor were all of them wearing masks.
The virus spread among the protestors and they brought it back home and to work. From there it spread even more.
California a state that has never reopened is having a huge spike as well. Why is California spiking if they never reopened? Protests spread the virus.
Apply the same attitude that you have towards baseball to all activities, protests included. You nor anyone else is expendable, And I have never advocated for not wearing masks.
The_Joneser.... this is definitely politically motivated when the media tells me I can't go to church, attend a funeral but it is ok and safe to protest.
