Stephen and Luis did mention during yesterday's second live stream that there would be "dozens" of new legends this year, with an emphasis on players from the 1990s and 2000s, so that's really encouraging. I don't know if that means 24...36...48 new legends, but we should expect a healthy influx of new players this year.

Hopefully that doesn’t mean at the expense of losing other legends though.

Inevitably, SDS does lose the rights to some guys. It happens every year. I can remember players like Gaylord Perry, Jack McDowell and Yogi Berra being in multiple versions of The Show, but they weren't in this year's edition. Even last year, guys like Darin Erstad, Doc Ellis and Albert Belle were in the game, but they aren't this year. I think SDS will probably lose a few ancillary legends from this year's cycle, but they tend to replace them with big names. This year, we had Willie Mays, Ivan Rodriguez, Rogers Hornsby, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, and a ton of other big-name stars enter the cycle. By teasing Rivera, Ortiz, Maddux, Smoltz and Glavine for 20, SDS could be setting up the community to not realize that some lesser-known guys might not be coming back.

Yeah I realize they can’t pay them all forever, but it would be nice if they could lmao

If we lose Ashburn and Slaughter...I'm fine with that.

    Too bad we lose GrandyMan...

I would too, except that we just got 3 big pitchers already, so if it would take away from offensive guys, I'd probably rather have a Scott Rolen/Jimmy Rollins etc over them.

SDS could make this the year of the pitcher though, it would def help diversify rotations.

I will update this thread every time we see a new legend in MLB the show 2020 whether it is in streams prior to launch of the game or during the game cycle!

One Callout: The Devs have not disclosed how many new legends to expect so not sure when this list will be complete.

New Legend List MLB the show 2020:

    1. Mariano Rivera
    2. David Ortiz
    3. Gary Sheffield
    4. Shane Victorino
    5. John Franco
    6. Greg Maddux
    7. John Smoltz
    8. Tom Glavine

At least 2 dozen..So minimum 24 new players added..I bet it's more than that though.

I just want a new legend to represent the Rockies that isn't Shovelface. Holliday doesn't count either.

I'm not. He's one of 2(two) legends available on the Phillies before this year. Slaughter sure, who is one of 178 Cardinals legends in MLB 19 can afford it. But unless they add a bunch of players, teams like the Brewers and Phillies shouldn't lose a single legend

I sympathize with your situation, but in dealing with a franchise that has been widely regarded as less than average (as a whole), I’d rather see the likes of Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, Scott Rolen, Darren Dalton, Robin Roberts, Ted Simmons, Roy Halladay Chase Utley, Bobby Abreu, [censored] Allen etc.

2 legends before this year though? Are you talking ‘19 or ‘20?

And TBH, for a franchise that has just over a 47% winning percentage in their history...

    I’ll see myself out.

Gotta think we’re getting a mega star or two from this 90’-00’s themed era they seem to be introducing this year.
I’m betting Pedro and/or Randy Johnson
And I could see AROD making a big come back this year. Would be dopeeeee

Mariano Rivera is the biggest mega star you can get. Best reliever of all time. Only player to get 100% of the vote for the HOF.
