Early thoughts on Paxton?

How's he doing in ranked for yall?
Sorry, my answer was poor.
He is good for 4-6 innings, tops. He is not lights out, strike out stuff. I’ve only given up one run with him, but gotten out of many jams. I feel like he’s easy to pick up.
He just doesn’t feel as good as 95 Snell or Hal or Hameln. He’s kind of scary to pitch with lol.
-
Started him once, was very good for 6, then fell apart a little in the 7th. Pretty happy with him overall
-
He's been prone to the long ball for me. Throws gas but can become predictable, i hope that's just early jitters as i learn his card, if not i'll replace him. At the end of the day he was free so no loss.
-
The control and break just isn’t there. 6th inning Maddux will easily bump him from my rotation.
-
Playing on AS in WC i faced him twice and beat him both times. I'd rather face him than Hal
-
Not that good
-
he's 4-0 with 6ip in 4 starts for me so I haven't been able to get a read on him.....people quit so easily.
-
If he had a better strikeout pitch he would be great, but still solid if you mix speeds

Lolz your average game length over that 4 stretch is 1.5 innings? Lordy that's some soft mental

Yup, and it's not like I'm really good. People go down 1-2 runs and just give up.

He sucked on all star in my 1 start. Couldn’t find that put away pitch.

I have yet to pitch with him, but when I face him, I can also stay alive on a 2 strike count for a long time unless I get completely fooled or mess up timing.
-
Haven't used him yet. Away for the weekend so I will probably get him some run online Tuesday. I am quite surprised to hear the negative reviews though. The card looks incredible.
-
1 Start so far...
8IP, 4H, 1 ER, 10 SO -
Not so good... on all-star at least
-
I havent used him much yet but in my first start with him he threw three no hit innings with five or six strikeouts before the guy rage quit. In my second start he threw a complete game shutout with 11 more strikeouts and one hit allowed. I'm a fan of the card so far.
-
I pitched him last night for the 1st time in RS on AS and although he got the win, I wasn't that impressed. I took Wood out of the rotation to pitch him and I think Wood has more movement on all of his pitches.
-
Throws BP on All Star and not as good as he looks on paper IMO. Idk if he’s just easy to read but I gave up 5 runs in 4 innings with him on HOF as well. I thought he’d excel in lefty/lefty matchups but that was not the case. Pretty disappointed
-
Yeah he's one of those cards that just doesn't seem to play as well as his attributes so far for me. I'm gonna still use him for a bit and give him a chance, but early returns aren't good.
-
This is mostly based on his pitch mix: he's solid but the lack of a slider will make it tough to have real success with him. Not that he's bad, but with all of these 97+ cheap SPs it's easy to find a guy with a 4 seam, slider, and changeup (the 3 pitches I look for)
