Seen it a lot lately, is there any utility to it other than to be obnoxious?

They do it solely to be annoying. If someone shows bunt once and pulls back it could be to try to get you to adjust your infield, but yes generally it is to be annoying

Bunt dancers get to enjoy my replays. I especially love replaying on them when Didi hits a no doubter lol

I do it when people are constantly throwing pitches in the dirt... especially if I am laying off them... and then sometimes I do it cause I am being a little b word about the fact that in that game I can't seem to lay off the ones outside the zone..

It's the equivalent of sticking your tongue out and going "nah nah nah nah booo boooo" when you take a pitch, steal a base, or do something else rather mundane that somehow makes the person feel exceptional.

Lol I’ve always done it after my opponent has made a great defensive play, not to be annoying but more like a thumbs up or respect

Sometime it distracts the pitcher making him look at the bat instead of the meter

I love it when people do it. A little voice in my head says, "you like jazz?" And the BS commences. I start all the annoying jazz I usually contain. R2 spammin', replaying homers, stepping off multiple times

I don’t get why people hate bunt dancing so much. It doesn’t affect you, so why do you care? I get being mad for throwing knucklers, or holding R2, or bunt cheesing, but bunt dancing is as innocent as it gets. I’m sure some do it to annoy people, but I bet a lot of people just do it as a habit, just to pass the time between pitches.

From my limited experience running into them I think they do it to let you know they aren’t very good at hitting and if you score 3 or 4 runs they will quit.

And I agree with post above they are also letting you know they want to see your HR replays.

Yeah it is pretty innocent, and really has no effect on me, but it's annoying knowing someone is trying to annoy you

Just bunt dancing isn't that bad, but it's usually accompanied by several other annoyances. Taking 30 seconds between every pitch is the worst.

I don’t usually care, but a few people have done it in events after I haven’t complied with their team names. With those guys I step off until they let me throw a pitch without showing bunt. They learn quickly.

I'll show bunt after someone dots me up. Just like a, "[censored], that was a good pitch" acknowledgement.

Same, or a great pitch.. Basically to acknowledge something that happened or signal I understand something.

Spoken like a true bunt dancer.

Same here. I’ll throw it down once. I’ll also do it to let the opponent know I’m batting with my pitcher.

My assessment is that guys who do this are aware of their mediocrity and therefore try and get into their opponent's head to throw them off their game by being annoying as hell. They also tend to be hyper aggressive on the base paths and steal on pretty much every occasion. Or plunk you in the head when you hit a moonshot and show them bunt in return right after you replayed it on their salty behind.

Faced a bunt dancer the other day, it makes me concentrate even harder, because i really want to beat try hards, if they would just play the game like a sim, i wouldn't care if i lose, but that stuff is silly, that and constantly sliding into 1st. Neither are advantageous, just annoying to the point that it makes me want to win, when i ordinarily am playing just for online stats or TA innings.

It is also a good indication that you are going to get dashboarded. I actually got dashboarded by that guy in the middle if a 3rd out of an inning, so i didn't get that inning toward my TA, lol.
