So Alex Gordon, Rick Ankiel, Travis Hafner, and Jason Kendall get a SS but not Joe Carter.

Yeah, what's up with that SDS? All we really wanted was Joe Carter.

Lmao it’s not exactly a crime that carter didn’t get one. Gordon, Hafner, and Kendall all had better careers.

SS Orel, SS Zobrist, basically any other legend, etc., would all be better than Joe carter.

Ugh...I will agree to disagree regarding Hafner and Gordon having better careers.
Hafner has 4 good years. Plus Aubrey Huff certainly wasn’t better.

So weird because I am not a huge Carter fan. However, he is the only legend in that original group who doesn’t have a SS. The lower level SS are not so much better (if they are better) that would warrant his exclusion.

Plus with a secondary at 1B. He could have been the rare 1B with SB speed. Regarding stats...All the SS stats are so all over the place like Jones 91 vision that a 95 version isn’t crazy. If it IS crazy it’s no more crazy than some of these other cards.

I would've hated Joe Carter being the final reward 100x more than I hate Andruw Jones being the final reward.

I don’t totally disagree. Him being last is weird. But him being left out is equally as odd to me.

It is a bit of poetic justice, Andruw being one of the reveals from last winter being the last card released

I think Mookie should have had a Finest. Everyone loves Orel. Carter is just unique because he was the only card in that group without a SS. It just makes the SS seem even more random. If it was Cliff Floyd I would feel the same

Joe carter is at the bottom of a long list of players that should’ve/could’ve gotten SS cards.

    Like dead last.

Not really. Jones has more range and power. Mookie has better contact, vision, clutch and arm

Betts would’ve had higher vision, but should have less power.

Overall yeah they’d probably be very similar.

Yes more contact for sure for Mookie. Vs righty should be up at 110-120. But Mookie LS cards is already like maxed out d almost right?

I would like to say that we've been completely spoiled by SDS and the content in this year's game. This Andruw Jones is actually quite good and the only reason he seems underwhelming is because content has been top notch. Personally, I was disappointed with Andruw as the final reward but that's only because there are so many other great cards to choose from. Props to SDS, it's been far and away the best year for content.

Serial. Why did we only get 29/30 of the pre-order bonuses in SS form? It seems like it has to be more than just a slight or an oversight. I wonder if Carter pulled his rights mid-year or something? Not sure how that could be possible. But it just seems weird to not give Carter the upgrade.

Ty Cobb, Griffey JR, Mays, No Need for this card

There wasn't exactly a need for any card at this point in the year, but I would've liked to see them end the year with a bigger bang.

If they had released a "bigger bang" today:

"WHY DID THEY WAIT UNTIL FEBRUARY TO RELEASE THIS CARD? WE SHOULD HAVE HAD IT IN AUGUST!?!"

    There's literally no winning.

The guys at SDS have the coolest jobs in the entire world. There mostly certainly IS winning.

Hmmm seems his peers disagree given the all Star games he made. I think you might have to at least be good to be a 5 x all Star. You can say he was flawed or wasn’t an all time great or that he isn’t HOF worthy, but to say he isn’t good.....well says more about you than him imo

Finally somebody gets it. It’s odd he is the only one from the group. It’s not even about how good he was and yes he was very good. It is sort of an undeserved slap in the face to him.

The decision has NOTHING to do with his ability. Huff, Gordon, Ankiel, Floyd to name a few are at most marginally better or more realistically they could hold Carter’s jock

Don Kessinger (WHO?) went to 6 All-Star games in the late 60s/early 70s because the NL's middle IF scene was a bunch of hot garbage at the time.

Joe got incredibly lucky that he played at a time when his best skill (driving in RBI) was tremendously overvalued. His career WAR doesn't even crack the Top 1200 of all time.
