As I am looking through all of the posts, all I see is people complaining about this game. I think it is fine! Yes, fielding is a problem, as is baserunning, but I like it. Is it just that, as a die-hard baseball fan, this is the only game I have? What are your thoughts. What makes it bad for you?
I don't understand why you would think the gameplay is fine overall if you lose most of your online games. Not trying to take shots, but if your losing more games than not, last thing I would do is come on here and say gameplay is fine. Offline, the game plays better.

The Simulation seems to take over the game.
The RNG is frustrating.
What is RNG?
Random number generator. Like a slot machine. It’s the hitting system in place.
Do people use that abbreviation as a joke to mock SDS or do we know that this is actually the hitting system in place?
All video games run on random number generation. It's the equation that decides what outcomes will happen. Basically when you swing at a pitch it's like pulling lottery balls, they throw in hitter stats with pitcher stats, and what you pull out is what happens.
There are definitely issues with RNG in this game, some people accept it, while others blame it for all their problems.
That’s why the crybabies post their complaints, to help SDS fix the issues. If we all just accepted the game as is every year, there wouldn’t be much incentive for SDS to put out something better.
Its not really an issue though. The game is going to have RNG. This game is chalk full of real issues, bad players on all star hitting the occasional home run with less than perfect pci placement is sooooo far down the list.
I'm fine with people bringing it up, just not over and over again whenever they lose a game.
The way the RNG is used in this game is quite stupid though.
Input and ratings can work hand in hand. But the way they have this game designed, they work against each other. No one thinks we should be able to paint corners with Michael Kopech all day. Ratings should effect the pitching meter and make it harder to get perfect releases, but perfect should be perfect every single time.
When your kicking a field goal in madden, does a bad kicker just shank perfect kicks on the meter? No, the meter is just extremely hard to hit.
When your shooting a 3 in 2k, does a perfect green release just randomly airball? No the shot meter is just harder to hit based on the players ratings.
This **** is fairly elementary. Attributes should impact the process, not just manipulate outcomes.
Very well articulated, and with examples from sports games to boot. Best justification ever. There are so many ways the hitting, pitching and fielding interfaces can be varied to accommodate the various influencing factors (attributes, difficulty chosen, difficulty of play, chosen input method) that determine what the user gets to work with when swinging or throwing and how hard it is to get that perfect input.
It seems so logical so I just wonder if either:
a) programming it will require a very resource consuming complete overhaul of the various reading user inputs code; or
b) it has been proven that no matter how user-centric it is, it’s just not as much fun as we think; or
c) no matter how difficult the input is made through all of the contributing factors, there are some people who simply cannot be challenged because they are so good and will have perfect input almost every time no matter how difficult it is, or cannot be competitive because they are so bad that no matter how easy it is for them they almost always have poor input.I’m, in all seriousness, lending towards c) but I think all three are most likely contributing factors to the alleged randomness of outcomes

Random number generator. Basically you throw a pitch and RNG randomized day 1-100. If it’s 1-10 you get a good location. If it’s 90-100 it’s a meatball. No user control

Lol. It usually is. I have lost about 5 games because my CF can't catch a fly ball hit right at him, but otherwise, it is my fault. Everyone likes to blame the game when, in reality, it is just the fact that they are bad.

I'm 50. I've posted for over 20 years on other forums under this same (or similar) handle. Anyone familiar with me knows I'm a lawyer because I post a lot about legal issues and answer questions for people who need help.
I'm sorry you are so thin-skinned that you cannot accept it when someone who knows the legal system tells you your statement about "lawsuits" against SDS are impossible.
Of course, you can always sue a company, but not for any of the complaints you raise. I suppose if you've been coddled all your life. You don't like getting presented with contrary opinions. You need to be let down nicely and be given a participation ribbon.

Watch kyle, mcgunski, swingman, rival, etc..... They say this is the worst game to date besides '18. Kyle was playing fortnite the other day on stream lol. The game is a dice roll. hitting is so absurd and makes no sense. You can square up a good timed ball and it goes nowhere and the next pitch you can completely miss the PCI with the ball and hiry a no doubt shot 10 rows into right field. They are slowly getting rid of the skill hap and now that it's going to be multi-platform I think it's eventually just going to be like a game of chance.

Try transitioning over to RS and see if you still feel the same.

This year is less fun for me because it seems like every game plays completely different and there are games where pitch speed is just insane. I’m talking I could be on Veteran and very late on any fastball over 96. I can then go into practice mode and be early on the same fastballs on legendary...it makes no sense at times and it’s frustrating.
Instead of jacking up pitch speeds I really wish they kept those reasonable and just considerably shrunk the pci (and forced actual good contact) as a means to balance skill/difficulty.
At least to me that seems more reasonable considering the potential online issues....and the absurdity it every pitcher you face having a 95+ sinker or can magically throw 100+ every single pitch of a game as a starter. -

What I hate about this game is the ridiculous amount of home runs and runs in general. When everyone in WS is pitching to a 7.00+ ERA and you can’t throw a pitch anywhere at all that the batter is unable to make contact with, from their shoes to their eyebrows and both batters boxes, you know you’re playing one of the worst baseball games ever created. This is nothing like baseball whatsoever. This is just a batting simulator with zero emphasis on pitching, defense or strategy. It doesn’t even get the batting part right, with all these trash early/okay home runs and garbage hits I might hate this game more than ‘18 at this point. Ironically, when you do have good batting input, you get good/okay. What an absolute mockery of a baseball simulation this is.
