Something struck me after reading the thread about pitchouts and playing another game of Conquest with repeated pitchouts. It's like the game in total is just kind of overproduced.

Are there pitchouts IRL? Of course there are, but not to the degree you see in this game. Are routine groundballs sometimes booted? Yes, but not to the degree you see in this game. Do pitchers miss locations and hang pitches? Again, yes but not this much. Do double plays happen? Of course, but not every single time a runner is at first. Do people throw 102? Yes, but not all game.

Do umpires miss calls on the edges of the strike zone? Do they miss safe/out calls at the bags? Are there throwing errors from good infielders? Are there throwing errors from the catcher when he has to throw to first after a dropped third strike? Are homers hit on bad contact? Are good contact hits sometimes hit right at fielders? Do some players make decent contact on pitches way out of the zone? Do pitchers get hit by batted balls? Do pitchers sometimes make good fielding plays on balls up the middle? Do bunts sometimes go past the mound to where the second baseman might need to field it? Do starters sometimes come on in relief?

All of these are a yes, but the balance is way off in this game. Is it cool to have a fully immersive game with these things happening? Yes, but they need to occur a lot less frequently (however that gets programmed). In all, I feel like the game is just a bit overproduced.

I agree with you. Too much math going on with too many variables.

what annoys me beyond belief is when a runner is on first in a moment that you have no control over and the pitcher is throwing over multiple times

In hitting moments I'm tired of getting walked and failing because of it. It's like the pitchers don't throw strikes.

Yep, I'd include that in the "overdone" category.
