I'm telling you, I can't hit with him compared to guys like Reggie, Yelich, even Lindor and Ketel Marte...

Is there something with his swing that is unique that you have to do something else with him????

If it makes you feel any better I was so excited to use Sheffield and I can’t hit with him and I can’t stand how close I’m he is to the plate.

I struggled at first with him. Now he crushes for me. What I do is sit patient in the middle of the zone. Nothing in or away. Only up or down in the middle. It seems to work well. I get lots of walks and homers with him this way. I think I'm hitting like .240/.350/.650 with him. Pure power and patience

I hit a homerun with him my very first at bat, had a drought for around 40 at bats or so and finally hit one today in the event.

He pops it up a lot, and his avg. has dipped from like .340 to .290 for me over the past few days.

He does usually make good contract with line drives for me. I try and swing at everything outside, he slaps those for double and singles a lot. I'd avoid inside stuff, seems to pop it up.

Idk what it is but his stance while using strike zone just makes me uncomfortable lol

I had the lower version of Mantle and struggled. Never put him back in the lineup or bench.

Just stick with them and try to treat them the same as your other hitters. It’s common for people to be too aggressive with newly acquired high overall sluggers. If anything you should be overly patient because people tend to pitch around them.

And get a big sample size before you make any decisions about their long term fit with your team. I’ve seen too many people give up on Reggie, Gary, Biggio, etc. before they give them enough ABs.

I sucked with Mays last year until I just decided I’d have him in the lineup for his defense and treat any offense as a bonus. Once I did this I raked.

I struggle w him, he’s another one w a long swing like sandberg who I benched but mantle will never see the bench. You just have to swing sooner w him. I also am
Always pressing w him, expecting too much. He’s hitting like 250 for me

For me personally he is the greatest card in the history of this game. He just crushes everything & is SO CLUTCH. But I think it’s all user preference. Alot of people think the 99 Sandberg is amazing, But I don’t even use him anymore he was so useless to me. Bottom line - Just because someone is good for someone else doesn’t mean they’re good for you.

Mantle seems to crush anything middle/in. Even if the ball is outside the PCI. I haven't had much luck with him batting righty or going oppo.

Mantle has been a cheat code for me. With these massive PCIs I just power swing anywhere in the zone and it’s usually a bomb or a line drive right at someone.

Was gonna make this same post. Im still batting about .300 with him. But for his stats the ball just doesn't seem to come off the ball the way you would think. Has a lot of warning track power for a guy with +100 in every category

Gonna start power swinging see if that helps

This right here. A lot of people press when they get Mantle and try to hit everything all over the place. Combine this with everyone facing Mantle being far more careful and that's a recipe for offensive disaster. My hits with Mantle now usually come with a minimum two balls because people are going to be super cautious of coming over the plate against him.

Yeah bu I've had Mantle for like 2 weeks now.....it's not a new card to me. I had a rough start with other cards like Sheff and Reggie and then adjusted to them .....With Mantle and Biggio I just can't seem to get it going

I do fairly well with him online however people pitch him tough or intentionally walk him. I don't hit well with Sheffield or Joe Carter at all online.

I don't press. Im batting 338 with him. But his power or contact just doesn't show too much. Who knows could be the stadiums im playing at though. Been trying to find balanced ones

It's funny how cards hit different for different people. I cant hit with Marte, but everyone one else rakes with him. Last night playing Showdown I used the 99 Buster Posey and flat out hated it, yet still hit PPs with Jake Lamb.
