Why will it not let me get traded
How did this desire to be traded come about?
Typically, when I "roll up" a character, I attempt to match up his eventual positions with a "need" on the team (typically BOS or STL) that I'm picking during the draft.
Have a 100% success rate (ie, stay on the team) this way.
Once on 22, I "rolled" a closer, for BOS. During my AAA time on the team (so late July of '22) he got a call into the office and "we're sticking with Rich Hill as our closer - even though he wasn't closing - so we traded you". Shipped me to WAS. Immediately went into "trade me again" mode.
Was stuck on WAS for all of '23 season, and after re-signing with them (rookie deal), they traded me (most likely during winter meetings) to TEX.
Mind you, while I was a save machine for WAS, the rest of the team wasn't - so we missed playoffs etc. Probably part of why WAS offloaded me, I "earned" them more "talent" in the trade than I would have provided them by saving another 46-ish games with the chumps they had in their employ...
Which is funny, because 47 saves later, TEX was a WS team...
And to close out my "reasons" I gave earlier, the couple of times I've rolled up a character with the intent of going to "whichever team wants me", the odds of being traded in that situation are extremely slim, because you were drafted by said team to "fill a serious need", and therefore they aren't looking to offload you - except maybe in a "deadline deal" or offseason trade in which you net a lot more talented prospects than you'd provide the team in raw stats...
