Every time I check swing this [censored] says Its a strike yet the demographic on the left shows my bat NOT breaking the plane of the plate, then my opponent check swings and this dudes bat is 6 ft past the plate but someone that [censored] is a ball. Devs are pretty much useless but I’m praying a holy miracle happens and they get off their [censored] and do something for once.

Check swings have nothing to do with the animation you get. It might be based off discipline, but I'm not sure.

If what you say is correct, would that not be a huge bug? In the real game of baseball, it is based entirely on whether the bat pierces the 3D plane of the strike zone. So, to maintain suspension of disbelief, it is clear that the game code must present the check swing realistically with regard to that rule.

That's how the game is coded. It looks at your timing and gives you an animation accordingly. Also, there is no official definition of what counts as a swing or not. It is based on umpire discretion

Correct. Plus I believe vision. You’re almost better turning off all those visuals to be honest.

Folks, if "turning off all those visuals" is the answer to the question, then the bug is made rather obvious. And to the other respondent, your first post said a checked swing has "nothing to do with the animations," and then your follow up to me said the code, "looks at your timing and gives you an animation accordingly."

OK, so what is it, do you know?

Yes, the MLB rule puts the check swing call in the discretion of the umpires, but the general accepted standard for that call is the bat piercing the strike zone and if umpires fail to use some objective standard in the actual game, then the games would turn into a clown show.

The point here, folks, is that SDS is trying to create a virtual baseball game and so any game result that doesn't look realistic are in truth harming suspension of disbelief, which is the key point as everyone taught to code video games are taught about the vital importance of creating and maintaining the highest level of suspension of disbelief in order to gain the highest level of customer satisfaction.

@Ken_Stallings_MLBTS Are you playing with umpire accuracy set at “personalized, average or perfect”? I use perfect assuming this is their version of a “robot ump” but this setting also factors here.

I play with it set for perfect. That said, I do not check swing in my offline game play, so this issue doesn't affect me personally. That said, my point is that SDS isn't implementing this part of the game in a realistic manner.

@Ken_Stallings_MLBTS I don’t personally care for a lot of useless visuals I never look at or use. However, the check swings don’t always pass the “eyeball” test either. But sometimes I also find my player swung but didn’t get nailed for it. Gotta keep in mind it’s a game. It’s all rating dependent. Players with terrible vision and discipline get penalized and the opposite happens for players with great ratings.
