    Update 1.13 Discussion

Lol... apparently this is a good/good homerun by the cpu on legend now. Lol.

    https://imgur.com/a/Krb2Rmi

I guess we just get to see the bad hits in more detail now. I hope this is an outlier and not the norm.

I feel like your pic is a perfect example of why they provided such a long patch note to explain there are far more inputs that go into a result that you need to consider than just the fact that the ball is slightly outside the contact PCI and was a home run.

Let’s break down your pic using what SDS has told us:

Firstly, we know that the small PCI reflects contact zone where there is an increased chance of hard contact, compared to the vision portion. Players can still make contact in the vision zone, it’s just the chance of hard contact is less and I believe it drops the further out you get. This ball is just outside the contact PCI, so there’s definitely still a chance that can be hit with hard contact.

Second, patch note says pitch location is the most important factor in determining contact result. That pitch is in the middle of the zone which means it definitely has a higher chance of being subject to hard contact.

Lastly, if that’s on legend and the PCI is that big, that means you hung your pitch. SDS didn’t put anything out on this but I am positive from more than enough anecdotal evidence that hanging pitches = significantly increased chance of hard contact.

To sum up, the increased chance of hard contact due to a hung cutter down the middle outweighed the decreased chance of hard contact due to PCI placement being slightly off.

With the information SDS put out, they are effectively saying based on all the data they can see and the knowledge they have of what inputs should produce what outputs, they’re fairly comfortable with the current state of hitting.

What was lacking was understanding and the communication to users which is why they sent out what they did. Now it’s up to us to use that info and be objective when assessing hitting outcomes.

If the results still seem inconsistent based on all the information we have, then by all means share that in the forums and ask for change or more information to properly assess hit results, but if they give us new info and we continually revert back to something as simple as “contact pci not on ball + home run = broken” when we have been told it’s more complex, we are always gonna be unhappy.

I'm interested in this too actually. Often my player's accessories don't match what I set in my uniform setup. Most notably catcher gear.

  • Conquest Extreme
  • Xx9Tarasenko1xXX Xx9Tarasenko1xX

Here's the method I'm doing which I've found works reasonably well. For this method, you need to be able to beat the CPU on HoF regularly (although I think it's a lot easier when you face mostly bronze pitchers with a predominantly 99 team).

My method is to conquer the map and complete all turn based missions except for Rockies, White Sox, Astros, Rangers, Angels Athletics. You could probably take Houston and maybe 1 other if you steal on legend, but these teams are all easy to do through a quick restart.

Turn 1: Straight down to Minny, continue towards Wash with remaining fans. Steal fans on HoF.

Turn 2: Reinforce at original stronghold, take Cleveland, then Toronto, then use remaining fans to continue towards TB. Steal on HoF.

Turn 3: Split reinforcements. Enough to get to Wsh and take them, remainder at spot near TB. Take Wsh, TB and NYY. If any extra fans, move them towards Bos or Philly (depending where you have the extra fans). Steal on HoF

Turn 4: Reinforce at spot closest to Philly. Take Phi, Cin, Chc and Arizona. Move any additional fans towards LAD. Steal on HoF

Turn 5: Reinforcce at NYY Chc and Cin with enough fans that you can comfortably reach the Brewers and Braves - maybe with an extra fan or two in case you lose a game. If you have enough. Take the Red Sox Brewers, Braves. steal on HoF.

Turn 6. Reinforce enough to finish off dodger/padre route, reinforce the remainder at the Philly stronghold and take NYM and STL.

Once done those, finish off the rest of the map, taking every hexagon in a more relaxed way like you normally would.

Then when you're done, you can quickly do the others. Go straight for Hou, beat them, restart. Take Col, restart. Take CWS, restart. Then go straight for Texas steal fans, go up and do angels and Athletics all without restarting. You might be able to do all of these on a single turn but IMO it's not worth it.

Edit to turn 5 as I forgot about the Red Sox and missed them with my original post.

  • Moonshot event
  • Xx9Tarasenko1xXX Xx9Tarasenko1xX

the transition to the southpaw event will end the current run you might be on (i.e. if you were 11-0 you would start the southpaw event on a brand new entry, not the 11-0 entry you were previously on). However, cumulative wins building towards the rewards you currently see will continue. So if you've earned 30 event wins in this one total, you'll still be building off that 30 total event wins when southpaw begins.

  • They made MTO irrelevant with this update
  • Xx9Tarasenko1xXX Xx9Tarasenko1xX

@Hank_Gritt said in They made MTO irrelevant with this update:

While I'm not upset that they patched it, I do think they should look at the data and strongly think about making the double affinity a permanent thing (or maybe a weekend bonus or something). I bet if you looked at the numbers, more people played MTO this week than ever before. I saw way more streamers playing it, and I sure played a ton. It gives the game some nice variety to have a ton of different options.

Another thing to think about: when new players pick this game up in the summer they are going to be so far behind in the TA grind they might just ignore it all together. Making it so an MTO run on All-Star or below can at least get you past stage one TA will make more people play MTO and more people (especially new players) care about grinding TA.

Agree with you. Beyond the data about how much modes are being played, I think it would be fair to increase the points to put it more in line with Showdown, or at least bridge the gap. If it takes, say, 6.5 hours hours to complete MTO on veteran (I use veteran because it's comparable to a majority of Showdown moments). That's 54 TA points max over 6.5 hours assuming you max out your rewards.

With showdown, you're looking at 1.5 hours per stage 1 showdown (I'd say an hour for stage 2). That means you could potentially earn 80 points with 30 min to spare or a failed attempt accounted for. Plus I'd say you'd earn more XP in showdown, plus packs.

No problem with them removing double points for now and not saying double MTO points is the answer, but I wouldn't mind them looking at trying to bridge the gap, even if they increased it by 50%. Just gives people an incentive to play a different mode if they choose.

  • Question about Daily Missions.
  • Xx9Tarasenko1xXX Xx9Tarasenko1xX

As others mentioned, you can only have 2 built up per category. “Stacking” the dailies would consist of making sure you have 2 in each category, but also replacing hard missions with easy ones. So if you had the gold CGSO mission, it’s hard to complete, so using the few days leading up to a new program to replace those types of missions with ones that are quick and easy to complete would be part of stacking.

@hoboadam said in Let's kill the Future Stars concept now.:

This should have been November content, not June.

Make a Minor League version of the game and stick these guys there.

I agree. I enjoy having the prospects in the game, but IMO, give them Prospect cards for the first 6-8 months of the game's lifecycle. The prospect card version should be realistic projections - i.e. their overall should be based on their estimated ceiling with overalls similar to the ratings of LS cards and the players they are projected to play like. I'm unaware of any prospect touted as the next Trout, so make the top prospects in the 90-91 range and have it trickle down from there.

Later, when there's dozens and dozens of prime and sig cards and 99s, if you want to add future stars cards with suped up stats that push up their overalls, go for it.

    lol dude are you joking

Henke was an absolute beast in real life - you probably weren't even at the stadium watching him

this is a terrific TA card for the blue jays we've had the worst cards all year its refreshing to get the Henkster

Agree. Only really disappointed cause I was hoping for Delgado since I grew up watching him. Other than that, this Henke card looks great.

  • LS almost complete, need advise
  • Xx9Tarasenko1xXX Xx9Tarasenko1xX

Both are amazing hitters. Walker has way better fielding. Remember you'll also come away with I think 16K stubs after completing those 2 team collections, plus NL East, plus full NL. So it's Gary + 16K vs. Larry.

I think the main considerations would be: Do you need good fielding or can you handle bronze fielding, do you need a lefty power bat or a righty power bat in your lineup and, would you rather have Larry and take a bit longer to get Gary/eventually Mickey, or do you really want to get them ASAP?

Edit: I agree with Olive's point about waiting to see the collection reward(s). I personally have a feeling it will be multiple cards, so might be worth waiting to see before locking in anything.

  • Does Vision matter? And How?
  • Xx9Tarasenko1xXX Xx9Tarasenko1xX

People say vision matters less this year but they didn't change the way vision vs. contact works, they just finally explained it better this year.

The further out towards the edge of the vision ring you go, the lower the % chance of quality contact results. The inner (contact) ring is where you are most likely to make good contact (higher exit velo). Vision which is the outer ring, is a better reflection of the outer most limit of where your player could potentially make contact with the ball, although it comes with a higher % chance of a poor contact result and lower exit velo.

Schnauzer's comment is spot on. A high vision guy can be good if you really want to get a ball in play late in a game, but the way the game plays as a general rule high contact is the choice over high vision.

his defense there was repeat runners last year, but yet again yeah shoudlve scored him by then.

Maybe? I never had that happen last year. Showdown is on ROOKIE and VETERAN. If people can't get their PCI squared up to hit a sac fly, maybe they don't deserve the 42 cards? There are 50 posts here of people crying about this. If you can't hit the ball, you honestly don't deserve free diamond cards. Practice and get better at the game. Like, ya'll 15 or something? You have to earn stuff in life my friends. Reminds me of the college student emails I get.

"Dear Professor, I know I haven't been in class for the past 15 1/2 weeks, what extra credit can I do to pass the class".

Nada dudes, try again next year.

I have not lost a showdown this year but doesn’t mean I havent struggled to get hits at times. I had this happen to me one time. I could have scored my runner but strategically left my runner on third because I had the lifeline perk that is dependent on having a runner on base.

And even if that wasn’t the case, not everyone has played the game for years, not everyone is good at video games. Guy is just asking why his runner disappeared which is a fair question since last year in the same situation, the runner would be replaced by the last out. If you’re gonna give someone a hard time on these forums, I can think of a lot more comments that are reasonable to criticize than this one.

Yeah I mean sometimes they have added additional rewards beyond what they originally put out, but other times they haven’t. Sort of unpredictable so I wouldn’t count on it.

If you’re grinding any stats for prestige players, my recommendation is play more of that event. So if you want bellinger or didi prestiged, focus on this event. If you have a bunch of righties you’d like to work on, save those games for the southpaw event.

  • 90+ Live Series
  • Xx9Tarasenko1xXX Xx9Tarasenko1xX

@Untchable704 said in 90+ Live Series:

Everybody wants to make this some sort of deep economics problem. it’s not. It basic.

Take 75k stubs right now and buy a 50 bundle. You are 99% more likely to lose 50k than you are to pull a 90+ diamond. And that’s not an exaggeration. Even if you luck out and pull 2 diamonds you still have a 99% chance to lose 30k+ in stubs.

On the flip side Making stubs in spurts with the innings and different programs is pretty decent in this game.

So anybody who opens packs with stubs is either too broke to do it or has quit the game. Leaving only people who are stacking stubs to buy the higher players with almost no supply and not much else to spend it on. At this point I assume the devs put some of those cards up. Unless the dynamics of their packs change drastically those cards will keep going up. It’s really that simple.

I agree in part, although any decrease in the number of people buying packs I would say is offset by the # of packs attainable through Showdown 2nd boss, affinity programs offering an insane # of packs, events having win progression that offers more packs than last year. In total, I would argue there are more people opening standard packs than last year, because the majority of the fan base probably didn't buy a large # of packs last year, but a large majority is earning these affinity packs, etc. this year.

It isn't deep, but it is economics. People are earning far more stubs this year which means more people are considering doing the LS collections. That puts significant demand on all diamonds. Double the # of headliner packs = double the # of times people are buying packs that will produce diamond LS cards as well. The high chance of pulling a <90 diamond, relative to a high diamond is leading to a big increase in supply for those cards, which is why you've seen their price plummet, even during a LS event. However, the pull rate on high diamonds is not sufficient to offset the increased demand for those cards, which is why you see prices rising.

Buhner (6 stolen bases in career + Torre below is 29 and clue was they combined for less than 30)
Torre (hits MVP clue, plus 23 SB with Buhner's 6 is < 30)
Ellsbury (had 343 SB, clue was >300 and is a sox CF)
