    Finished Mantle last night!
  • worm91_NSWW worm91_NSW

For the last few weeks I have been working my way through the last handful of Mantle tickets I needed. I sold just about everything I had been hoarding all year and between that and the 1M from the Forever program I had about 3.5 M. The diamonds I needed were crazy expensive but I dove into the market and competed on bids with all the other players in the same situation. I reached a point where I needed 5 bronze Rookies and 3 diamond 2nd Half Heroes. All of the remaining diamonds I could buy were between 450,000 and 700,000 stubs and I only had about 1M left so I was a few hundred thousand short. I knew I had to play all the way to the end of Battle Royale to pull them from the 90 and 95 point packs. I completed that last night.
In case you were wondering Finest Jimmy Rollins is my new hero. 🙂 He hit the 15th home run I needed to complete that mission and those 10 points put me past 100. Thank you Jimmy!!!!!

Now I can go back to the more relaxing offline games of Conquest and Mini Seasons.

I went to two minor league games last year when I was traveling for work. One AAA and one A. They had pitch clocks and I thought the games were fantastic from a fan viewing standpoint. So much better than watching MLB the last few years. I am strongly in favor of it coming to the big leagues. You don't realize how much of a difference it makes until you see it firsthand and how much it improves the enjoyment.

  • worm91_NSWW worm91_NSW

Daily moments have been accumulating one a day since the World Series ended, but they effectively have no expiration date so the list will keep growing from now on. I stopped doing them when I completed the last program so I had a big jump start waiting for me with easy points when yesterday's content was released.

  • What are the mystery missions
  • worm91_NSWW worm91_NSW

Finagle your way into a game situation where the pitcher is up next with at least one runner in scoring position. In my Mini Seasons experience, the opposing manager almost always gives an intentional walk.
For many missions in MLB22 you have to play the game strategically in a way to control the scenario, not a way to control the game for winning as you normally would. Stopping runners, purposefully making outs sometimes, etc. are a way to force a mission.

  • 2022 in review. positive and negatives
  • worm91_NSWW worm91_NSW

I loved Mini Seasons as well as a way to grind offline PXP and accumulate mission points once I have a Conquest map done and dont feel like chewing through USA yet again. My gripe about it is the same players on multiple teams. It is fine to create a league with "haves" and "have nots" teams as that makes it more interesting. But there are so many high level cards in this game we do not need Milestone 700 HR Pujols on like three different teams. Seems weird. Make every player only be on one team. (Except mine, of course, though that would be a crazy dynamic).

  • What are the easiest Extreme Moments?

I did the Wood and Chapman moments in only a few tries. I think I did the Pujols one but I am away from my console. The rest I am sure I did not do.

  • Live Series Free Agents
  • worm91_NSWW worm91_NSW

This is my first year playing so I do not know how much of this works compared to you veterans. But last night it dawned on me no more roster updates means Free Agents are useless to me as they will never be part of an exchange. So I wondered how much stubs I was sitting on and quick sold all of the duplicates.
It was a bit sad to go through nine pages of players smiling, full of so much hope in the spring that this could be their year and now we find ourselves months later and they are all out of baseball. You can't help but feel for them.......
Also, who goes through the effort to list common players on the marketplace for 5 stubs each????

  • Thoughts on ease to obtain end game cards?
  • worm91_NSWW worm91_NSW

Since this is my first year I cannot compare to other years, but one thing that struck me was how good the 2022 Finest cards were. If you started really late in the year but were playing when that program was active, you could put together a REALLY strong team simply by grinding through that. A team of only those was going to supplant just about everything else except for the true endgame cards like the Johnsons, DeGrom, Verlander, Mantle, etc. I did feel a bit strange taking so many of the cards I had been working towards all year and finding ones in that program that were clear upgrades with not a huge grind involved.

I don't know if you picked Colorado or did some sort of random selection but if you are just looking for PXP for pitchers, by the end of the season I felt like the Nationals hitting lineup was the worst in the game and therefore gave the most PXP for pitchers per game.

  • Your MVP, Cy Young, Reliever of the Year
  • worm91_NSWW worm91_NSW

    Interesting topic.
Keep in mind almost all my games are offline and mix of Rookie, Veteran and some All Star when I need it for a mission. And when I P5 a player I pretty much put him away and try other cards.
    MVP: Early-MA Devers Now-Takashi Griffey
Cy Young: Finest Zack Greinke though MA Zac Gallen was more dominant for me. I reached P5 with him so quickly he did not accumulate the stats compared to Greinke
Rolaids Relief: I could pick Finest Sutter or Takashi Wagner. They are just about a tie in stats as well as my feeling for who was most effective

Biggest surprise. When I started the game, pretty early on I acquired a rather modest Topps Now 90 OVR Josh Rojas and back when I was still learning hitting I raked with him. It seemed like he hit a home run every swing; it was almost comical. I eventually put him away for MA Devers, but it killed me to do it. Looking back, I still don't know why he hit so well for me.

Biggest disappointment. Other than me not improving my hitting over the course of the year as much as I wanted, 🙂 I would say it is the glut of amazing players at certain positions. Early on my best hitters were TN Rojas, MA Devers, and MA Austin Riley and they were all 3B so I had to be creative to keep them in my lineup. Now my outfield is so stacked with players I hit well with I cannot put all my best hitters in the lineup.

Another point worth mentioning that took me awhile to figure out. Before starting the first game, you are presented your batting lineup in order of catcher-infielders-outfielders. You can reorder them by moving the cursor up into the lineup and selecting players and shifting them. I still occasionally see opponents with the default order and I am pretty sure the players do not know they can reorder. I always hit my mission players at the top to maximize their at bats for more points. Sure, it means my diamonds hit lower, but I am there for mission points more than wins.
