There's a long thread about this. They have said they will fix it.
So far we "think" we know

1. It only happens in MLB - not during AA or AAA
2. It only happens to batters. If you play a specialist pitcher it doesn't happen.
3. It happens every second or third game. You will rarely be able to play a series without a freeze/lock
4. It happens very randomly during gameplay. Leading off, in the batters box, at the end of the game. There is speculation that it is where a pre- animated sequence takes over from specific player instigated sequences
5. Some have reported that going back to the clubhouse after every game will allow you to progress without the crash
6. The freeze/crash occurs on PS4 and XB - though the details are slightly different (system specific)
7. On PS4 you have the opportunity to report the error to Sony once the game unfreezes and returns the user to the blue "error" screen. You may have the same opportunity on XB. If you do . Please do (at least the first few times)

As someone who never got through half a season in RTTS on any Vita version. (None of which was ever fixed) I'm conscious that the developers may leave this error unfixed if too few people report it. Sony (and maybe MS) will put pressure on the devs if they keep receiving error reports for the same game that they sell via their online store.

I sometimes get a guy in the dugout with a squashed/malformed head. the face is offset below the nose by about half a head's width I think?
I didn't screengrab it. That's as well as the pure white mannequin heads. Pretty sure both of those things didn't happen before 1.05

Seems freeze/crash only occurs in RTTS and only when a player is a batter, and only when they make MLB level.
I've tried all sorts of other games and modes to get it to crash. I can play in the minors right up until I get promoted to MLB.
I can play Diamond Dynasty games and tried that and a few others.
When I go back to RTTS with my MLB save it freeze/crashes during one of the first 2 or 3 games. When I progress from AAA to MLB with another player it plays fine until I get to MLB, then it crashes. If I stay in AA or AAA it plays fine

Since the last update my bench staff, manager and whoever. Are like mannequins. Pure white faces. No texture or tone. Even white eyes and white eyelids.
Players seem Ok. Creepy

My first save was fine through the minors.
Started crashing my first series in the Majors. Latest one started after my manager had a chat with me about "We're keeping an eye on you" Which might be a hidden promotion step?
Just thinking out loud?

PS5 user here. I was experiencing the same issues every second or third series. Here is the solution that has worked for me so far. I created a new season and renamed the save to have a fresh save file. Deleted all other RTTS save files in file management and then went back to the newly created one. I then removed all equipment from my CAP and resaved with zero equipment. Then reloaded all equipment back on my CAP and again resaved. I have not had a crash since and I have made it clear to the majors where I have played about 8-10 series without crash. I am not sure what step actually fixed it but I hope this helps.

A good tip. Hopefully the properly fix it sooner rather than later - but at least you can play if you start again.

It didn't last... Back to square one.

Same here. Just played most of May in AA (Again) Froze with me on second base. Waited 30 seconds then blue screen "Do I want to send an error report to Sony?"

No - already done it multiple time today. So no thanks.

Quit and will not be coming back to the game any time soon.

On it's own it's a flat no.
In comparison with previous years it's a "NO"

I've re-started by ballplayer for the 4th time now due to errors and crashes. Lost progress, then lost equipment now after 1.05 i get freeze/crash about every 2nd or 3rd game. Often having to replay whole series - only for it to happen again.
I've decided this is the last time I try. Life's too short and there are too many other good games to keep dealing with this. As I've got zero interest in online play, I'll go back to to '20 if I play The Show again this year - If I play at all.
And, despite owning every single game in this franchise going back to the PS2, including Vita - Next year I'm going to give serious thought to not buying next year's game.
They really messed up this year.

For the time being I've fired up OOTP on my PC and really enjoying that.

Super Mega Baseball 3 is a bit cartoonish but a heckuva lot of fun on PC. Just saying.

I've got that as well. Brilliant game
OOTP is just scratching an itch now.

Did you all re-start your career at some point PRIOR to the crashing? All the anomies I'm getting seem to refer back to previous times I started my RTTS player. Wrong gear, wrong image, wrong stats. That one of these anomalies results in a crash wouldn't be surprising if a check on a stat or impact of a piece of gear was made during gameplay.

I'm pretty sure all the visual and stat inconsistencies I'm seeing in the menu screens and pre-game refer back to previous times I re-started my RTTS player, How about you guys?

But each RTTS save is a separate save. The only constant is that they all use the current My Ballplayer.

Sorry - That's what I mean. It's those "My Ballplayer" stats, set ups and items from previous saves that keep cropping back up on my current save Like they leak in or are mixed up or something.

One minute I go to the player set up screen to change my Archetype or kit, and there is the "MyPlayer" set up as he was for a previous save. I have to set him up again. Then half a season later - or art some polnt later, he changes again.

This does need a fix.

You could play a new RTTS save and keep the other for some future fix.

That's an option. My real issue I suppose is confidence
I don't have confidence in the game at the moment.
It might work. It might not. I've had items disappear, advancement not being registered and now this.
I love the game, but sitting and playing with "This is going to break in a minute" always at the back of my mind lowers my enjoyment too much to want to play
While I love playing the game. Replaying the game to reach the point I was at before (again) - When I've restarted due to various bugs several times already... is starting to feel more of a chore than a game.

Have any of you guys also restarted? Got a player to a certain point. Maybe tried 2 way play - or not. Then started as a rookie again from scratch.
I know it's the same save, there is only one "Your player".
But when an old version of my "Your player" suddenly pops up halfway through the season. Might it me that the game logic gets completely borked if you "start again" and impact progression, items and maybe even crashes.
It feels like a possibility that the game gets confused if you restart your "My Player"

Sometimes I go to the player screen and I see a completely different player
I have re-started the my player as a Rookie multiple times in RTTS - like when the Royals gave me the choice to go back to AAA or play 1st base instead of catcher. I just started again and trained harder as a catcher to get selected for the position I wanted to play in.
But since these restarts, I sometimes I go to the "Your player" screen and I see the uniform selections and set up for a previous "incarnation" of myself even months into my first AA season with a new 18 year old version or my player.. Then it will switch back.

I'm not sure half the time what's applying and what isn't

Blue screen "Report this bug to Sony?"

I won Cy Young and had a batting average 1st in the team at 4.05.(Almost .140 higher than the next closest) Most home runs 51 (18 more than the next closest) and second in RBI's (Didn't count towards awards because I hadn't got enough plate appearances being a 2 way player)
Dropped for the playoffs. Not even on the roster.
